Great price and service on a great horn
Anonymous 07.02.2016
There are a lot of really good altos in the price competitive professional category. Eastman and P.Mauriat at the lower end of the price spectrum are fine horns. For a little more the Yamaha 62 and Yanagisawa AOW1 are great horns. Both the Yamaha and Yani have great response and a great sound but the layout of the keys on the Yamaha felt more natural than the Yani, that is much closer to the layout on the Buffet Crampon student horn I played on. So the Yamaha got the nod. And even though the Yamaha Custom 82Z and 875EX were not in my price range, I thought the 62 played better than either. I did not get a chance to play the Elite range of the Yanagisawas. The YAS-62 is an easy choice with little risk of regret.

Beautiful sax and excellent sound
VMate 28.03.2019
The sax fulfills all the expectations - it is an intermediate/entry level pro instrument, the sound is not too bright. I love everything about it, but if you want to get the best sound out it, I recommend to change the mouthpiece and the ligature. I use a Vandoren V12 mouthpiece with a Vandoren Optimum ligature and its sound reminds me of the upper register of a tenor sax, which I really like. I don't think that one can buy a better sax for the price.

Wonderful instrument
Musicanter 23.03.2023
I finally got myself a YAS62 after 7 years of playing sax and I wish I had upgraded from my YAS280 years ago (although the 280 itself is a really good instrument), the YAS62 really is a benchmark instrument. I also have a TJ Sig Custom alto, and the two couldn't be more different in character, the Yamaha being much brighter and the Sig Custom thinking it's a tenor sax in minature! Both are equally great, but in completely different ways.
