Great sounding cymbal with quality issues
Vykintas 22.03.2020
This is a review after 7 months of owning the cymbal.
About the cymbal - the sound is medium bright (not too bright), and the thickness is medium-thin - perfect for crashing on it. I really liked the sound of the cymbal, especially considering the price, however it sounded almost identical to a Zultan Caz 17" crash that i ordered on the same shippment (even their sound samples sound similar!). That bugged me a little, but i still loved it. It can be used in every genre i could imagine - really versatile.
Now onto the downsides - my first RB crash cracked along the groove near the bell after 5 months. This was my first cracked cymbal in 11 years of playing drums. Besides the crack - the cymbal had a very noticeable dent since day one, as if someone were to run through it with a screwdriver.
Thomann replaced the cymbal no questions asked, and in a very timely manner, the WHOLE process took just one week! Great customer service.
The replacement's sound was significantly different - sounded more heavy. I liked that because now my crashes sounded differentely. However, this cymbal looked way worse than the first one - the outer groove was messed up almost throughout the whole cymbal - one part looked like it was going to crack really soon - the defected groove was really prominent, easily felt while running through it with a finger (probably a B stock?). I have since returned the cymbal and opted for a money back.
Advise for buyers - inspect the cymbal thoroughly and search for grooves that are a lot darker (too deep). Despite that it is a great crash cymbal, and you cant really beat the price.

Pretty happy with this. Sounds close to the samples. Got a decent quick crash sound to it which blends well with my other pies which are larger and darker. Good sustain and weight. Not too bright, not brilliant, glassy, glossy etc like other 'rock' specific cymbals.

Seems well made and a complete bargain compared to all others at this price point except maybe Paiste Alpha range for the alloy.

Shame it'll likely hold no resale value and I can't really comment on the long term durability of it, but nice piece of metal.

Also the finish came pretty bad, not what I was expecting. Like finger marks and impressions in the lacquer. Thomman were realistic about it, offered a replacement after seeing photos, but didn't want to risk sending it back to maybe just get another one like it again.
