A huge sound for a tiny price

Behringer's DR115DSP active full-range speaker offers solid performance at a remarkably affordable price, balancing power and practicality in a well-rounded design. Delivering 1,400W via Class D and Class AB amplifiers, the DR115DSP features a 2-channel mixer with built-in DSP, separate microphone and line inputs, and individual volume controls, suitable for both live use and playback. Featuring a 15" woofer and a 1.75" tweeter, it covers a frequency range of 45 to 19,000Hz with a four-stage adjustable boost function for added flexibility. The active speaker has been developed with modern requirements in mind and features a Bluetooth interface as well as DSP functions optimised for the sound presets Music, Live, Speech, and DJ/Club sound presets. So much sound for so little money – simply remarkable.

Behringer DR115DSP

They rarely come alone

When used for front-of-house sound reinforcement, the Behringer DR115DSP is usually set up in pairs, positioned on the left and right to create a clear stereo image. The line output is a useful feature in this context, allowing additional speakers to be connected and the system to be expanded effortlessly. With its wide-dispersion horn and relatively compact dimensions of 687x422x390mm, the speaker is also well suited to use in delay line configurations where multiple units are connected in series. Users should note that it weighs 21.4kg, although transport and installation remain manageable thanks to well-positioned carrying handles that feel secure and comfortable. And in its black housing – no darker colour being available – it will suit any event, however modern, gritty, or elegant.

Well established for years

The Behringer DR115DSP has built up a loyal following over time and is now found at a wide variety of events, thanks too to its reliability and flexibility. Bands, DJs, and stage techs alike will all benefit from the trapezoidal housing design, which offers a wide range of positioning and mounting options. Thanks to a 35mm tripod flange, it can be mounted on a standard speaker stand, whilst its shape also makes it suitable for use as a monitor wedge. The robust design is well suited to solo entertainers, singer-songwriters, and presenters of all kinds, along with more informal settings such as garden parties or community events. It's a practical and powerful solution for those who don't wish to be weighed down with a separate amplifier.

About Behringer

The company, which was founded in Germany by Uli Behringer and now manufactures its products in China, has been known for affordable and great-value equipment since its very first product, the Studio Exciter F. An array of mixing consoles (such as the Eurodesk MX8000), signal processors, and later sound amplification and monitoring equipment, has made it possible for countless musicians to fit out their home studios, practice rooms, and mobile PAs within budget limits that were previously unthinkable. The acquisition of other companies, including Midas, Klark Teknik, and TC Electronic, meant that new product groups were added - and also resulted in the technical expertise of these companies being incorporated into product development.

Contemporary DSP features

Active speakers without DSP have largely disappeared, so it goes without saying that the Behringer DR115DSP incorporates this functionality as part of its design. The DSP allows the sound to be adapted to different rooms with varying acoustics and enables elements such as the EQ to be fine-tuned with high precision. At the same time, DSPs also contribute to listeners' safety; by protecting the speakers from overloading, potentially damaging sound peaks can be limited and smoothed out. Although digital signal processing inevitably adds to a device's overall cost, it also supports consistent performance over time, resulting in a longer and safer lifespan.

Major issue with DSP.
Michael D 11.11.2019
This box boasts great specs and seems likes a steal but unfortunately its a great example of "You pay for what you get".

Was looking for something to replace my JBL EON 12'S as they were getting a bit tired after four years.

Since these DR115's were new to the market I said I would give them a shot (Honestly never do that). Trying them out for the first time with a very low input from my decks and the speakers DSP was displaying "LIMIT" constantly. There is a major issue with the software built into these boxes. I don't know how it got passed testing. I'm not the only one experiencing this either. Reviews are beginning to pop up online of others having the same issue's as I did.

I do not recommend this speaker. If you are looking for something similar in price I reckon 'the box pro DSP 115' would be a good pick due to its unbelievable reviews!

We are playing in a band very loud music and we needed in a loud source of sound to sing. And this speaker is really nice! Good quality, vocal cuts through the mix. Thank you, Thomann!

Best ever possible at this price!
Best quality sound than all other speakers at same price.
Bit problems with DSP, just flashing LIMIT but not reduce the volume.

B
Good but not great
Bassic_film 10.05.2025
The speakers are BIG and Heavy compared to the past generation. The DSP in them doesn't do much, just a few audio modes and some basic 3-band EQ. The fact that they have Bluetooth makes them a great option for real houses and the general consumer. Overall, the sound is great and the price is low. Paired with an 18" Sub to take the bass load of them, you can do some pretty solid work.
