gorgeous sound, difficult expression pedal mode

The sound is really good. The only real downside is the expression pedal.
I can use the expression pedal very good now for repeats and echo (not so for delay time). But this took a while and first I tought there was a bug. As the manual says you really have to arrange ALL the knobs EVERY TIME for heel-down and toe down. Very annoying if you want just one parameter to change, or you want to keep the delay time the same. What a difference with NUX NDD7 that is so easy for using an expression pedal.
Also the delay time changes with the expression pedal the same as you would turn the knob, but this gives such a long warble that it is only usefull in certain cases (vs NUX ).

Still I love the pedal because for this price you can't get a better Space Echo sound.
You hear all the mechanics from a real space echo. The PREAMP sound is great for the effect (not to use on its own for me). I don't really miss the saturation control from the RE 202. The TONE control is great (I don't miss separate treble and bass knobs). The WOW AND FLUTTER is great. I have the impression Boss RE-2 en RE-202 also have a good sound without wow and flutter where NUX and GALAXY always have some modulation going on. I really like the spring REVERB, it fits the sound perfect and even on its own it's a nice reverb. I don't agree with folks who say this is a minor reverb sound, just because it doesn't drip.
Just like the RE 202, it hugs the sound less then other space echo clones. The real Tape Echo RE 201 is probably warmer and would sit more underneath the sound. But from all space echo pedals on the market, the Boss algorythm gives the space echo sound I like the most ! To compare with RE202 : The only reason why I would change RE2 for the RE202 is the warp algorythm or maybe the expression thing that could be improved with an USB update in the future .

Portable tape sparkles !

Wow, the sound !
This is a real Roland Space Echo bundled into the pedalboard friendly standard BOSS enclosure. All main features from the RE-201 are there, accessible at the touch of a knob, without fuss and unneeded gadgets. And the sound is there too: lush echo and reverbs, immediate inspiration !
And then there is the little plus, some less intuitive features hidden from the front pannel and configurable at startup, like expression pedal parameter mapping. Of course, the build quality is top notch, the pedal feels indestructible.
The downside is the short user manual: i would like to know how the repeat rate knob relates to the tap tempo mode. And the twist function, which sounds meh, but that's not the main selling point of this little gem.
