That arcade feel for the stage

The DJ Techtools Midi Fighter Spectra is a robust arcade-style MIDI controller developed primarily for live performance, combining a compact format with extensive customisation options. Building on the foundation of the earlier Midi Fighter Classic and 3D, the Spectra features 16 premium arcade trigger buttons, each equipped with responsive LED illumination for clear visual feedback during performance. A key enhancement is the addition of six dedicated side-mounted shift buttons, providing instant access to six individual banks and significantly expanding the controller's functionality. Together with the comprehensive MIDI Fighter Utility Tool, which allows virtually every aspect of the controller to be configured, the Spectra can be adapted to suit an exceptionally wide range of live and studio workflows.

DJ Techtools Midi Fighter Spectra Controller

Finger drum like a street fighter

With the Midi Fighter Spectra, DJ Techtools has created a controller that excels as a dedicated finger-drumming instrument, with its distinctive Sanwa arcade buttons playing a central role in the overall playing experience. Their precise response and tactile finish don't just feel good to play – they also enable exceptionally fast drum rolls that are difficult to achieve with many conventional pad controllers. At the same time, the extensive MIDI Fighter Utility software transforms the Spectra into a highly adaptable controller whose functions can be configured for a wide range of applications beyond finger drumming. Whether controlling effects in DJ software, launching clips in Ableton Live, or performing other MIDI-based tasks, the controller can be tailored to suit almost any workflow. An extensive library of ready-made mappings provided by DJ Techtools further simplifies integration, allowing the Spectra to be put to work with a variety of software platforms without the need for time-consuming manual programming.

Perfect for live performances

The versatility of the DJ Techtools Midi Fighter Spectra makes it well suited to almost any MIDI-based application, from music production and DJ software to lighting control and other performance-oriented environments. Its compact design and highly configurable operation allow it to adapt easily to a wide variety of workflows, although its strengths are particularly evident in live performance situations. Integrated LED illumination not only provides clear visual feedback for individual button assignments but can also be incorporated into dynamic lighting effects, adding an extra visual dimension to finger-drumming performances. Complementing these features are the renowned arcade game-style buttons from the legendary Japanese brand Sanwa buttons, whose durability and consistently responsive feel ensure reliable operation even under the demands of intensive, long-term use.

About DJ Techtools

Ean Golden (born January 17, 1980) is a San Francisco-based DJ, designer of DJ equipment and founder of the blog "DJ TechTools". He founded the DJ Techtools company in 2006 as an extension of his Remix column, which focused on the training of digital DJs. He now runs the company. Golden has played a significant role in the development and design of controller-based DJ equipment, including lead design credits for Midi Fighter, Midi Fighter 3D, Traktor Kontrol S4, Novation Dicer and Chroma Caps. Furthermore, Golden continues to work on bringing his own versions of controllers to market (in the past, these have included the Ean-Golden editions of the Vestax VCI-100 and VCI-400).

Compact and versatile

Thanks to its compact footprint and USB bus power, the DJ Techtools Midi Fighter Spectra can be integrated easily into virtually any setup, making it equally suitable for mobile applications and workspaces where space is at a premium. Although equipped with just 16 arcade buttons, the combination of programmable presets and multiple banks provides access to a far greater range of functions than the controller's appearance initially suggests, allowing even complex software layouts to be controlled efficiently. Within DJ software, it can be configured to trigger stems, loops, samples and effects, while in production environments it is equally capable of controlling drum racks, launching clips, or operating lighting software. This high degree of flexibility allows the Midi Fighter Spectra to adapt naturally to almost any MIDI-based workflow, regardless of the software platform it's used with.
