The spirit of the 60s in TV Yellow

Epiphone 1960 Les Paul Special DC TVY

Originally introduced in 1955 as a single-cutaway model, the Gibson Les Paul Special quickly became one of the most popular variants in the company's Les Paul lineup. In 1958, it underwent a major redesign with the introduction of the double cutaway, significantly improving access to the upper frets. The subsequent addition of the SlimTaper neck profile in 1960 marked the Les Paul Special's peak, offering enhanced comfort and playability. Developed in close collaboration with the Gibson Custom Shop, the Epiphone 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut Reissue TV Yellow now gives players an authentic recreation of this iconic guitar. Featuring a solid mahogany body, period-correct vintage specifications, and hand-wired electronics, it captures the unmistakable tone, feel, and character of the original 1960 classic.

Pure vintage sound

The Epiphone 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut Reissue features a solid mahogany body and neck, a combination long celebrated for its rich warmth and powerful sustain. Its double-cutaway design, first introduced in 1958, offers effortless access to the "dusty" end of the fingerboard, while the one-piece mahogany neck enhances the instrument's overall stability and features the comfortable 1960s Slim Taper profile for smooth, effortless playability in every register. Finished in classic TV Yellow, the guitar pays homage to the original models of the era with an authentic vintage look. Thanks to its all-mahogany construction and timeless design, this reissue delivers the unmistakable tone and character that define the Les Paul Special.

About Epiphone

Today, Epiphone is known only as the Asian budget offshoot of Gibson. Yet both companies were once independent, equal, and also bitter rivals. The roots of Epiphone go back to the 1870s and to Anastasios Stathopoulo, a Greek instrument maker, who emigrated to America in 1903 with his son Epaminondas (“Epi” for short). Epi changed the name of the firm to the "Epiphone Banjo Company" after taking over the family business in 1928. During this year, Epiphone also began to manufacture guitars, which rapidly came to dominate their sales. In 1957, Epiphone was taken over by C.M.I., which already included Gibson, but continued as a separate brand until 1970, when manufacturing was outsourced to Asia. Well-known Epiphone models include the Casino, played by the Beatles, and the Sheraton, John Lee Hooker's instrument of choice.

P-90 power for the stage and studio

From sharp Blues licks to gritty Punk riffs, the 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut offers an impressive range of tones thanks to its duo of USA Gibson Custom P-90 Soapbar pickups, which respond with precision to every nuance of the guitarist's picking hand and deliver everything from bright, detail-rich twang to thick, raw-sounding overdrive depending on how hard the player "digs in". The straightforward control layout - dedicated volume and tone knobs for each pickup - makes it easy to dial in sounds quickly while playing. The Epiphone 1960 Les Paul Special DC TVY delivers rock-solid reliability on stage, while its compact design, well-balanced weight, and comfortable feel make it ideal for powering through long sets and high-energy performances without fatigue.

Out of the Box sind touch and feel bei beiden grandios, soundmäßig geht der Punkt an die Epiphone.

Die three on a Plate Tuner sorgen für ein tolles Vintage Gefühl.
