Compact size, big sound

The Genelec 8330 AWM is an active two-way studio monitor that delivers the first-class sound producers the world over have come to expect from the Finnish manufacturer. With its signature stylish housing in lightweight die-cast aluminium, this model features two separate amplifiers with a total output of 100W, driving the 5" woofer and 3/4" tweeter to deliver sound pressure levels of up to 110dB SPL per stereo pair. In addition to its automatic start function, this speaker features integrated SAM technology, which allows multiple Genelec monitors to be optimised using the dedicated software, a computer interface, and a measurement microphone. A balanced XLR input means signals can be fed in without interference, while a protective circuit prevents driver damage by intercepting short-term level peaks. Magnetic shielding is also included as standard.

Impressive range of features

With a frequency range from 45Hz to 23kHz, the Genelec 8330 AWM delivers impressive low-end performance for a compact monitor. To achieve this, the speaker uses bass reflex technology, which maximises low-frequency sound pressure and extends the driver transmission range. The (deactivatable) automatic start function detects whether a signal is present and automatically switches the amplifier unit on as required. This makes the speaker easy to operate and helps save electricity. Two XLR sockets serve as digital input and output for the AES/EBU format. Two RJ45 network ports are also provided to integrate the monitor into a GLM network, enabling dynamic frequency adjustments via the GLM software suite.

For the discerning listener

The Genelec 8330 AWM is extremely unlikely to disappoint anyone looking for a monitor speaker with a flat frequency response, adjustable monitoring sound for multiple listening environments, and a spacious, three-dimensional sound from compact speakers. For recording and mixing professionals who rely on consistently high-quality sound, the 8330 is an excellent choice, with its housing materials and shape also contributing hugely to the overall sound audio image – they minimise resonance and ensure optimal sound dispersion in multi-speaker setups.

About Genelec

Genelec was founded in 1976 by Ilpo Martikainen. It grew from a family business into one of the world’s leading manufacturers of professional studio and broadcasting loudspeakers. To this day, Genelec’s loudspeakers are manufactured exclusively in Finland. Genelec offers performance-oriented, neutral-sounding loudspeakers and subwoofer systems for audio professionals and sound enthusiasts, and a combination of innovative technology and design ensures that the range of products is continuously improving. The company is committed to sustainable development and environmental awareness. In 2018, Genelec was awarded the Pro Sound “Company of the Year” award. Genelec speakers are favourites of such recording industry veterans as Obie O'Brien, Michael Carnes, and David Reitzas, as well as of producers like Hardwell, Keith Ross, and Vini Vici.

Ideal for stereo and surround setups

Whether in a professional studio, home setup, or editing suite, the Genelec 8330 AWM delivers outstanding results thanks to its flat frequency response and automatic room-adaptation features. It can be used not only as part of a stereo set, but also as a component in a surround setup. Genelec also offers a suitable subwoofer for this purpose – the Genelec 7350APM. When used on resonant surfaces such as a desk or stand, the integrated IsoPod comes into play, decoupling the speaker from its support surface using a combination of rubber feet and connecting bars. Threaded inserts at the rear of the housing provide secure mounting. Genelec also supplies suitable mounting accessories, such as the Genelec 8000-444B Ceiling Mount.

Perfect speaker, but watch out the GLM.

I am a consume customer, not a pro user.
I use this Genelec 8330A in my room, it looks so harmony with the space.

Compare to other products, the C/P for this one might not be the best one, but it produce the best sounds between the same level products, AND, with its elegant shape and look.

Highly recommend to buy GLM2.0 suite also, make it can adapt your space.

BTW there is one screw on the back panel had loose a little bit. It didn't affect any audio quality issue so far; Just made my speaker unique:P

The GLM2.0 suite I received in the bundle pack have issue with auto-cal feature. The microphone works fine but the GLM box always couldn't get the signal, so all the calibration result was null.
After some conversation with Genelec SAM support team, they told me that I need to get my brand new GLM2.0 suites replaced.

Big thumb up to Thomann custom service team, they are really professional and high efficiency and willing to help.
They help me to setup the international RMA process and get my GLM2.0 replaced with a brand new one quickly, and the new GLM2.0 solved my problem.
I will leave a 5 start to Thomann team, you guys rock!

Smart monitors

Excellent digital smart near field monitors.

The engineering in these is simply awesome. Build quality is outstanding. Heavy, sturdy, monolithic even. Jam-packed with features. Digital inputs, 24bit/96KHz top-notch D/A converters. Intelligent, digitally-driven master volume control. Acoustic auto-calibration with 20 built-in digital filters. Until now, I didn't think something like this even exists. :-)

I use them as desktop near field monitors, and I mean really near. They are less than 0.5m away from my ears and more than 2 meters away from any of the walls. My setup is not perfect, but it is what it is.

Sound-wise, they sound just a tad bit cold and sterile, but, at the same time, completely unforgiving to any faults in music mixes. It's like they have an built-in alarm for mixing errors. Each and every excessive resonance in a mix stands out like a thorn. A well balanced, pleasant mix sounds smooth and enjoyable. Sound stage is huge and multi-layered.

They could certainly use a sub-woofer in the setup.

I love them!
