Very nice compressor!

Bought this compressor as I also do have a GAP pre73 jr and I wanted a good compressor without spending too much money.

I use this one for vocals and acoustic guitar right now (only tracking) and I have to say I'm really impressed with the sound!
It's a clear sounding compressor with some vintage character in it. Very easy to use and the timing knob (A-B-C) is a very nice feature with you just have to explore.

There are better ones but for the price you can't beat this one!
I just have a rather 'simple' home studio and I do some internet radio broadcasting where this comp really does a perfect job!

Absolute Überraschung

Ich hatte den großen Bruder Comp 3A schon mal zum Testen da, war super, mir allerdings etwas zu langsam als echten LA-3A Ersatz. Der kleine Jr hat nun drei verschiedene Time Constant Settings an Bord, von denen das erste den Original-Regelzeiten des LA-3A nahekommen soll. Und das tun sie auch. Sehr knackig, trotzdem smooth und unangestrengt, auch bei stärkerer Kompression. Ich habe zwei LA-3As, die im Vergleich schon etwas anders klingen, aber der Jr. klingt jetzt nicht schlechter, etwas anders halt. Nicht ganz so dick und etwas "nervöser".

Durch die drei Voreinstellungen ist das Ding erstaunlich flexibel. Der SC Highpass Filter ist leider fix und mir persönlich etwas zu hoch angesetzt, je nach Quelle aber trotzdem sinnvoll und auf jeden Fall eine weitere Option, die das Gerät flexibel macht.

Ich hatte den Jr. wirklich nur aus reinem Interesse bestellt und nichts erwartet, aber diese unscheinbare kleine schwarze Wundertüte ist geblieben und verrichtet seitdem neben wesentlich teureren Kompressoren fröhlich seinen Dienst auf Bässen oder Vocals.
Ganz ehrlich: Wer überlegt, in die HW-Welt einzusteigen oder noch einen guten Tracking-Compressor braucht, ohne viel Geld ausgeben zu können, wäre dumm, den Jr. nicht anzuchecken.
Das einzige kleine Minus für mich: Durch den Formfaktor ist die Front schon sehr eng und das Einstellen etwas fummelig. Durch die begrenzten Regelmöglichkeiten wird man da so viel aber auch nciht drehen und switchen, insofern kein großes Problem.

Ein Preis/Leistungsmonster. Wirklich.

Ich benutze den Comp-3A Jr in meinem Home-Studio hauptsächlich für Vocals.

Der Sound überzeugt mich durchweg (ich habe allerdings nur Vergleiche zu Plugins), er hilft der Stimme unmittelbar zu mehr Präsenz, die Bedienung ist übersichtlich, die drei unterschiedlichen Time-Einstellungen laden zum Experimentieren ein, die Klangqualität ist sehr überzeugend und die Verarbeitung tadellos.

Die LED-Anzeige verrichtet zuverlässig ihren Dienst, ich persönlich vermisse das hierdurch ersetzte VU-Meter nicht.

Die Größe ist ganz wunderbar, wenn man nur noch wenig Platz im Rack hat, 1 HE bei 1/4 der Rack-Breite sollte es öfters geben.

Niestety, nie mogę pochwalić tego kompresora

Niefortunnie, zakupiony sprzęt nie spełnił moich oczekiwań w torze mikrofonowym do śledzenia wokalu. Urządzenie posiada moim zadaniem zbyt wysoki poziom własnych zakłóceń (słyszalne, delikatne "brumienie") i szumu - co bardzo przeszkadza przy nagraniach "na ciszy", nieprecyzyjną i mało efektywną przy wokalu sekcję ustawień, dość płaskie, pozbawione okrągłości brzmienie i brak efektu charakterystycznego dla urządzeń typu "vintage" zabarwienia; "kolorowania" ścieżki i owego pełnego, "piaszczystego" brzmienia środka. Do wokalu w mojej ocenie to się nie nadaje. Niestety, skandynawski producent nie prezentuje już tej jakości co kiedyś... Podobnie rzecz ma się z przedwzmacniaczami mikrofonowymi. Dużo ciekawiej wypada starszy i nieoferowany już jak zauważyłem kompresor COMP-54 MKII. Jeśli chodzi o COMP-3A - też go odesłałem. Jest dużo cichszy (praktycznie brak szumów własnych) ale bardzo przezroczysty brzmieniowo, wręcz "kastruje" nagranie z pewnego ciepła i okrągłości a także dynamiki.
ZA:
- teoretycznie posiada presety 3 kultowych preampów (A,B,C) z tamtych lat;
- solidne wykonanie, dość intuicyjna obsługa
PRZECIW:
- wygórowana cena w stosunku do oferowanej jakości brzmienia;
- wysoki poziom zakłóceń i szumów własnych;
- przezroczysty brzmieniowo, nieadekwatny do stylu "vintage" - brak koloryzacji;
- nieprecyzyjne, predefiniowane ustawienia - brak możliwości stosunkowo dyskretnej pracy przy zachowaniu pełnej dynamiki.
