Mollenhauer 5206 Denner Alto Recorder

I use it as a solo instrument and its very reliable. The sound is not so strong but speaks very well, especially in the higher register.

I enjoy the sound created by the pearwood. The notes are clear and loud. It takes practice to make the lower range sound correctly. The mid- and upper-range sounds are great and easy to produce. Compared to the pearwood soprano, the alto took more time to break in.

I bought this instrument because I wanted to add a cheap but good wooden alto to my collection of instruments. It has good intonation and a nice sound, but is possibly a bit weak sounding, and doesn't like too much air being pushed through it. It is a reliable workhorse, but I think that when buying wooden instruments, it is always better to try several and compare. I didn't make a bad purchase, but if I had gone to a shop to try many instruments, I probably wouldn't have ended up with this one.
