2. Speakers, cabinets, cab - what is it?

First of all, let's discuss some of the terminology we'll be dealing with when talking about these unwieldy, sometimes heavy, boxes fitted with speakers. In full, these are known as "speaker cabinets", or "cabinets" for short - or "speaker cabs", alternatively. And since we are talking about speaker cabinets for basses in particular, we might as well do the sensible thing and call them "bass cabs" or "bass cabinets".
