I’ve had lots of Guitar stands and I came to the conclusion I don’t like the aesthetics of the generic fare at all (black metal with clumsy foam type affair) …surely there has to be something nicer out there!? Well I was drawn to this as it seems kinda pretty, as wood is a gorgeous material! It’s soft and less damaging, and it presents its self like functional furniture!
I was worried about quality though (ironic considering the rather unfathomable price) though Thomann offer this at the best price there is (because they’re awesome naturally)!
It’s just some automatically CNC cut/routed plywood with some poorly positioned foam that was apparently too difficult to simply line up (although an infant could do this) why!?
However, what peeved me was that when placed on a flat surface one leg is raised by 1CM making it unstable which is due to poor craftsmanship (inaccurate tolerances for the camber/angles during CNC routing/cutting)!
Fortunately, I have the craft skill to correct this myself using workshop tools, but more importantly …considering I could have made this myself and I bought it just so that I didn’t have to waste time doing so - am I now happy about having to do this!? Hell no! Kinda sucks really, but unfortunately it’s where the world is at sadly, but if it fixes the issue; it’s worth it as I actually really like it (it’s kinda cute), my guitar likes it (on carpet it’s less of an issue but will need fixing for it to sit on my wood flooring!
So to surmise, this could be a great product if the manufacturer bothered to check and finish it properly, but despite that I still like it as it’s exactly what I wanted (or close at least)! Naturally, not Thomann’s fault at all, they are ‘the’ industry professionals at every stage! I might just have been unfortunate to receive a lesser copy but I’ll make it work regardless! :)
