A shame that we have to use this kind of driver based protection these days, but the thing works and thats all there is to it

Avoid untill you no longer can...
It is a necessary evil, unfortunately. After many years of avoiding it, i bit the bullet to get this. It makes licence management easier than with the online account, but that's only because iLok is such a horrible mess in the first place.
At least it's built to a durable standard, I guess...

It's ok
It's ok but I do need to use a USB dongle because iLok doesn't have a USB-C version. It's not very practical.

Works as expected
Used this mainly to run the Ivory II VST pianos, which require this device to be plugged into a USB port at all times to authorize the Ivory II pianos for use. As my laptop only has two USB ports, I have to use a four-port USB hub to deal with that.
Also have to create an ilok account online and download their software. Then use their software to transfer the licenses to the USB dongle.
Once the licenses are set up, the ivory II software starts up seamlessly and quickly.
This is the third and most compact version of the ilok USB dongle to date. The compact design is welcome and the metal finish looks sleek and probably durable, but time will tell.
