I bought the philosopher's tone 2 after trying out a few compressors and I was blown away by the tones I can get from this pedal, it is so dynamic and adjustable , tweakable but without a bad sound on it. I especially like that it runs off a 9 volt supply, has switchable silicon / germanium and the grit function is footswitchable.
