First time trying a Remo Colortone reso head on the bass drum and have to say I'm very impressed with first trial. Goes without saying that it looks great, only gripe is that the Remo logo, which is at the bottom of the head, is far too big. A minor detail but worth mentioning. It has a 5" port hole and I normally prefer a 4" but probabky doesn't make much difference.
Sound wise I'm really happy with it. It is quite a 'dead' sounding head but it works well on the bass drum and depending on what batter head it's used with ( in my case and Evans Emad ) I found that such is the dampening effect of this reso head it sounded best with no internal dampening at all so that's another plus as it let the shell resonate fully without any unwanted boominess and still gave it a nice deep wholesome thud.
All in all very happy with this head.
