love it
Stephen l. 25.02.2014
such a differnt sound to an sm58..... more air and warmth... I use it in full band situations and also on solo acoustic guitar gigs. On the solo gigs the warmth really comes through and with very few feedback problems. Also used it for recording vocals and acoustic guitar and it works great... very strong and well built.

Great mic
Kevthebass 01.03.2022
Wanted to try a cardioid mic to compare with our vocalist's current super cardioid SM58 Beta. Far superior clarity, no need to be "on the mic" so allows the vocalist more freedom to express their voice better. Cheaper than an SM58 Beta, so unless your band is really loud on stage, highly recommended.

Clear and true sound

It is my first vocal condenser microphone. Compared to the SM58 this one has a larger frequency range towards the higher frequencies while still retaining great resistance to feedback. It doesn't suffer too much from the proximity effect as its response is limited at lower frequencies. Handling noise is also minimal. There are more expensive and better microphones with larger diaphragms, but this one does its job well too.

Upgrade from SM58
ABScott 19.01.2019
I have nothing bad to say about this microphone, I upgraded from the SM58 as I felt I wasn't getting the warmth I wanted as I perform with only an acoustic guitar. This microphone gives a much fuller sound to your voice and has allowed me to fully immerse myself into the music without concerning myself with my sound.

Very good mic for live performance.
Gregor143 13.01.2020
We are a male accapela singing group and we are using these mics for recording our on stage performances. The recorded sound is very clear there is no problem with feedback, the mic is very solid build it has a nice mounting piece coming with it. The mic has a very warm and bright sound characteristic which is very nice for accapela singing.

Nice condenser work horse
Granatins 31.01.2023
Bought it for my wife, for doing small acoustic gigs as she sings with maybe guitar and some piano to really shine her vocals. And it does the job best of all hand held condensers i think. But as with any, this is a subjective matter, and for her voice, this is the best one i have heard.
The way capsule looks suspended seams not quite the best engineering i have seen, but i guess does the job.

Great mic. Absolutely satisfied.

Do not hesitate choosing this condenser for loud environments.
Shure Sm86 does keep up tightly with my large diaphragm brother for recording, while having the plus of a slightly more live oriented frequency range, and the classic sturdy Shure anatomy for handling, (commonly associated with dynamic mics), essential if you employ mic technique (singers).
It will of course pick up environment sound more easily in comparison to a dyn. but nothing that you cannot adjust with using close mic tech and less amp only really needed if you demand an immaculate recording from your gigs. All this for obvious quality compensation, watch any SM58 comparison and see for yourself.

Better than beta87
Anonymous 07.05.2014
Fatter sound than beta87 but very similar. Equally clear on top but slightly more weight on bottom and middle frequencies. Much nicer than sm58. Grilles are expensive to replace compared with sm58, same as beta87. Best vocal mic I've found.
