The broad and largely linear frequency range of 50Hz to 20kHz ensures precise sound reproduction, which also enables both instruments and electric guitar amplifiers to be miked to optimum effect. The preamp bypass switch on the back of the microphone can also be used to deactivate the preamp – this is a new addition to this version, for users wishing to revert to the traditional sound of the SM7B microphone. There are also switches to activate bass roll-off and increase mid-range frequencies, boosting presence for greater vocal clarity.

About Shure

The American company Shure began developing microphones during the early 1930s and is one of the pioneers of the audio engineering sector. Easy mounting for flexible applications

In addition to a pop filter, the Shure SM7dB also ships with a brass adapter, which is used to mount the 20.6cm-long mic to the broadcast arm included in this bundle. The adapter can be tightened using any standard screwdriver, or even just a coin. The microphone should then be directed at the sound source at a distance of between 2.54cm and 15cm, depending on the desired proximity effect; this is easy thanks to the Shure broadcast arm's endless flexibility, thanks both to its two joints and its adjustable desk clamp. If necessary, however, the microphone's bracket mount can also be removed, so the mic can be mounted on a conventional microphone stand (and then realigned accordingly so that the switches on the back of the microphone can be read the right way up). Users can also purchase the optional Shure A7WS foam windscreen, if they want more protection than the pop screen included here can offer.
