Compact 12" subwoofer for flexible PA setups
The Achat 112 Sub is a compact, passive 12" subwoofer from Thomann's in-house brand the box pro, designed for small to medium sound reinforcement systems. As a passive subwoofer, it requires an external power amplifier, which makes it suitable both for those putting together a classic PA setup for the first time and for users looking to expand or scale an existing system. Unlike active units, the Achat 112 Sub is powered directly from the amplifier via a speaker cable, and as such doesn't require a separate mains power connection. This simplifies cabling on stage and makes it especially appealing for installations or mobile setups with central amplification. The robust and reasonably lightweight enclosure is finished in a durable matte black textured coating, making it well suited to regular transport.

Ready to connect
In terms of sound, the Achat 112 Sub delivers a well-defined, even bass response across a range of around 45 to 250Hz. This relatively broad usable bandwidth means it can be run comfortably with higher crossover points. In practice, this allows even compact 8" or 10" top speakers to benefit from a clean reduction in low-end and lower midrange load. The sub's fitted with three locking NL4 connectors, making a number of different signal paths possible. The Input is where the signal from the amplifier is fed in. For direct connection to a top speaker, the integrated crossover on the Top output splits the signal internally at around 160Hz. The Thru output passes the unprocessed signal on, for example to another subwoofer or a standalone speaker management system. As a result, the Achat 112 Sub can be used in both simple setups and more complex systems with external crossovers or DSP.

A versatile system add-on
