Dieser Dämpfer ist vielleicht etwas voluminös, jedoch sind Ansprache, Intonation und vor allem Klang sehr gut. Die Lautstärkeregelung funktioniert durch die stark resonierende Glocke genau umgekehrt wie bei Trompeten Cups, so wird der Ton lauter, je näher die Glocke am Schalltrichter sitzt. Um eine Beschädigung des Schalltrichters zu verhindern, hat die Glocke nach innen hin einen Anschlag, nach außen hin nicht, um sie abnehmen zu können und den Dämpfer wie einen normalen "straight" nutzen zu können.
