Close But Not Close Enough
I own a number of USA Gibson Les Paul guitars and was interested in this '59 Epiphone spec. The features of original '50s wiring, witchcraft selector switch and output jack, CTS pots, 50s era wiring, vintage paint finish and Mallory capacitors all sounded very promising.
That all promptly ended when it arrived and I opened the case "Limited Edition 1959 Les Paul Standard is Epiphone's stunning recreation of the rare vintage classic" is misleading. There was heavy scuffing to the body and tooling marks on the fretboard. Even the 'Limited Edition' medallion on the rear is cheap looking and has visible bubbles on the surface! The Indian Laurel is okay but not the 'stunning recreation' as advertised because it should be Rosewood to be correct. The guitar case is cheap and nasty to the touch and looks it, particularly if you have ever owned a USA Gibson original guitar hard case.
The largest disappointment is the overall 'aged finish' which is really just a plain matt finish, there's nothing vintage about it. The promised AAA figured maple veneer... is AA at best. Even worse is there is no Certificate of Authenticity I would expect with this Limited Edition. Plus these is no multi-tool or truss-rod adjustment tool included.
