DC Custom: The next generation
The DC-Custom II Cherry from Harley Benton is the next generation of the brand's budget-friendly double-cut model and features new woods for the body and neck as well as a duo of powerful Tesla TM VR-Nitro AlNiCo-5 humbuckers that expand the guitar's sonic range through the addition of coil-splitting capabilities. Despite these improvements, however, the Harley Benton DC Custom II Cherry remains a straightforward, expressive electric guitar that is particularly suited to Blues and Blues Rock and continues to be available at the characteristic Harley Benton price. The guitar's classic cherry finish in turn emphasises its traditional looks, meaning that it not only delivers a powerful, full-bodied sound but also proudly showcases the pure spirit of Rock & Roll.
Tesla pickups for extra juice
The Meranti body and neck combination used for the Harley Benton DC-Custom II Cherry gives the guitar a rich fundamental tone with plenty of sustain that is clearly transmitted to the amplifier via its two Tesla humbuckers. The latter are selected by a three-way toggle switch and share a master control each for volume and tone, while the single-coil mode can be activated via the tone knob's push-pull feature. A compound-radius neck with a thickness that gradually increases from 20.5 to 22.5mm between the first and twelfth frets makes the rosewood fingerboard, which features 24 medium jumbo Blacksmith stainless steel frets and classic trapeze inlays, even more comfortable to play. The instrument is also fitted with high-quality hardware, ensuring many years of reliability.
The perfect first double-cut
With its attractive price tag, it should come as no surprise that the Harley Benton DC-Custom Cherry is primarily aimed at beginners on a limited budget who are still seeking a high-quality instrument for Blues and for Rock & Roll in its many guises. These players get a surprisingly feature-rich guitar with a flexible sound and striking appearance for their money, which will capably handle those first sessions. The Tesla humbuckers in particular take the second generation of the DC-Custom Cherry to a new level and deliver powerful and assertive tones for hard-driving riffs and expressive solos, with warm-sounding cleans also "on tap" thanks to the push-pull tone pot, and of course a multitude of nuanced variations in-between.
About Harley Benton
Since 1998, the Harley Benton brand has been catering for the needs of countless guitarists and bassists. In addition to an extensive range of stringed instruments, Thomann's house brand also offers a wide choice of amplifiers, speakers, effect pedals, and other accessories. In total, the range includes over 1,500 products. Built by established names in the industry, all Harley Benton products combine quality and reliability at attractive and affordable prices. The continuous expansion of the range ensures that Harley Benton always provides new, exciting, and innovative products that keep players perfectly in tune with the musical world, day after day.
Mission: Rock & Roll
In designing the DC-Custom II Cherry, Harley Benton has made several refinements to the previous model to create a successor that will capably handle both Blues and Rock. The most significant of these improvements has been the inclusion of the Tesla humbuckers, which give the player a significantly broader sonic palette than the predecessor's Roswell pickups and are complemented by the compound neck radius, which continues to enhance the already comfortable playing feel. When paired with a high-quality amplifier, the Harley Benton DC-Custom II Cherry will deliver the sounds that musicians have long come to expect from double-cut guitars - from lush cleans through to full-souding crunch tones and singing leads, all complete with balanced sustain and ample headroom - at a price that won't break the bank.
