Very good choice for cover bands
FMU , 05.02.2018
I've choose this console over Beringer X32 family because I wanted to have portability with the maximum of outputs and not compromising the quality of the sound.
- The sound quality is way better then his direct competitors ex. Behringer.
- The handling could be better but every console has her own learning curve.
- Portability versus her processing power is the best, I mean, for 32in you get 16omni outs + LR. Not to mention that every output can be used as Aux, Sub group or Matrix. Has 4 dedicated mono subgroups. And the cherry on the cake is that in this console you can create DCA (the producer calling these "Custom groups"), more then 30 but you will never need as many as the console can handle.
-RTA can help to hunt feedback or to tune your PA. Downside is that they cut the Smaart section like they had on older PreSonus AI series.
The effects sound decent but I found the names of the effect features not as the industry standards.

UC Surface is intuitive and can be operated from 4 devices in total 4 layouts: Console, Fat Channel, Sends, and Meters!

Conclusion: Worth to invest!

My first own Digital Mixer
I have more than 35 years of experience in sound engineering and in different music styles. Also had a very nice MIDAS Venice 320th (26Kg without case)
The Presonus StudioLive Series III 32R with only 2U and 5kg has already shrunk surprisingly small.
Of course, the workflow is completely different.
Connecting to USB to the computer is not always easy.
Driver has partially limited connectivity under Win 10.
Uninstalling drivers and rebooting helps.
The connection to the WLan is a bit more laborious.
Tried three different routers until it worked,
There is always an IP starting with 168 ..... but should start with 192.168 ..... This means Presonus gets no contact with the DCHP server of the router. Firmware update has brought no improvement. I repeated the update and finally it worked. No idea why it suddenly works. The router must be running before.
That's why I'm in contact with support from Presonus.
The setting of the parameters is getting used to at the beginning.
The routing is logically comprehensible and practicable, especially the routing of the 16 Auxen is flexible in mono or stereo possible for InEar, tunerout or for video recording can prove a StereoAux. For monitor, of course, too. Each aux has its own mix and can be driven completely independently.
Also the grinding in of external effects via the auxes is quite possible. The master works as usual. The headphone amplifier is very quiet, next to the drums you can not hear anything anymore.
Have installed in the rack an extra headphone amplifier, so I listen well with loud headphones with the headphone.
The sound is good, clear highs rich basses, transparent sound everything impeccable.
Recorder with SD Card,
I first tried with a 128GB SD card, unfortunately was not recognized.
It worked with 32GB. The recording is unfortunately only possible in stereo, with the recording source is freely selectable. The sound is great!
Multitrack recording is only possible via USB and computer.
The recording works perfectly with Capture 2, during playback I still have problems with the configuration. (Driver)
The possibilities of the device I have not fully worked through. It definitely costs a lot of time until all settings are made and all routings and mixes and levels are retracted. Then save and retrieve at any time.
I'm looking forward to the next gig.
Currently only running at 48 kHz.
Pairing two Presonus StudioLive Series III 32R is NOT possible. About AVB network, it is conceivable, but unfortunately no way. Maybe there is a firmware that offers this possibility. Also, the recording as a multitrack directly on SD is hopefully feasible with an update and a great benefit.
Therefore do not offer all possibilities I wish.

minus
It lacks 96 kHz and 44.1 kHz, multitrack on SD
and pairing two Presonus StudioLive Series III 32R.
No display on the device for status IP etc ...
No LED on the inputs for phantom, signal and overdrive
Operation only possible via external devices.
Headphone output is very quiet.
Driver for Win 10 buggy, hope for next update.
AVB only available for Mac.

plus
Excellent sound in studio quality.
Stereo SD recorder in 48 kHz
Multitrack recording via computer
