Das Selmer Tenor Serie III (SE-T3L) spielt sich sehr gut, die Mechanik ist extrem gut und folgsam. Der Sound klingt sehr frei und ist formbar. Mit geeigneten Mundstücken und Blättchen ist die Dynamik erstaunlich groß.
Leider wirkt bei mir der untere Bereich der tieferen Töne (E-D#-D-C#-C-H-B) teilweise unausgeglichen und spricht bei mir mitunter ungleichmäßig an. Die zwei Basstöne H - B kommen stets sehr gut, das tiefe C# und C kommt relativ gut und das tiefe D# und D ist schwerer spielbar. Aufwärts, also E-F-G wird es wieder viel bessser.
Das zweite Register ist ein Traum und die Altissimo-Etage ist mit etwas Übung erreichbar und kontrollierbar.
Diese Eigenschaften ändern sich mit verschiedenen Mundstücken, bleiben prinzipiell jedoch wahrnehmbar.
Aussehen und Verarbeitung sind erstklassig. Ich wünsche mir jedoch statt gerader Tonlöcher eine Bördelung.

Fazit: Super Instrument, macht Laune und klingt schön.
