my favorite mic
marshall545 21.07.2021
I bought this mic to record guitar amps which is a standard, I use it along with the shure SM57 and the results are the best!!! Also, I was amazed by how good it sounded on female vocals, on which I use it regularly now. No wonder why Ella Fitzgerald used it on her live performance in 1974. Now, in comparison to the old white one, I have tested them both and I can say the white one has some vintageness to it, but other than that, I liked the black one more. Sennheiser have really taken their white, classic mic and brought out the best of it with this product.

Quality legend

Good quality microphone for multiple purposes. Ofcourse it has its limits, but still top choice for guitar amps, drums and percussions. Only minus is that clamp is not the most reliable one.

A great classic...
gmartina 12.05.2020
One of the best dynamic microphones for almost all instruments, especially for the drum on live or studio session. There’s nothing better for tom drum, but it’s a little awkward and heavy. Maybe is a little pricey overall though.

Great for amps, drums, guitars
Gassss 07.01.2022
I got this for recording electric guitar and drums, but it's also good for acoustic guitar. Particularly on a resonator and a gypsy-jazz style guitar - bright and punchy sound, sits straight in a mix without any EQ. Even used it for vocals.

Great mic, I use it mainly for guitar cab, in combination with ribbon mic. Works also great on percussion, not so much on bass cab or speech imo. I would not hesitate to buy this mic again immediately if lost or stolen. Never gone back to the sm57 since, this is now the reference for me for dynamic mics imo.

A must for the studio
James2242 19.05.2014
I love this microphone. It's great on toms and amps, it's a really versatile microphone. It even works nice on some vocals. My only issue with it is the clip. It works a gem but I constantly grab the mic and inadvertently release it from it's holder. Thankfully I catch it every time but I know someday it's going to hit the floor.

Amazing Microphone
Ink 08.12.2014
This Sennheiser MD421-II Microphone its just amazing for studio aplications.
i love to use it on electric guitar cabinets, small drum toms and eventualy on kick drum. I like to use this mic with an SM57 for get an overall picture of a creamy distortion.
I feel that this microphone is also perfect for small drum Toms like 10" or 12".
i highly recommend this microphone.

This is my new favourite mic. Solid, Clear. great build.

slap this one between two toms, or infront of a LGT amp and damn nearly see the clarity in your recording.

I love this mic. full marks!

Useful warm clear
Kirschner 15.08.2013
I use it for guitars, (both acoustic and electric) contrabass, cajon, conga, darbuka, snares, and as a secondary unit for vocals (using a lot of compression and distortion)

Great device, warm clear sound, better than my favorite, the sm 57

A classic - with good reason!
Claydon 27.09.2015
Recently upgraded to these from a pair of e604 mics. The difference in quality is instantly apparent - much more 'hi-fi'. The clarity is very impressive, and low end response well tuned to recording toms, guitar cabs, vocals and beyond. The stepped filter is useful but I rarely feel the need to use it! Amazing microphone.
