Great monitors for the price
Steven6720, 15.06.2020
I've been using the same monitors to mix and master for a long time, so moving to something different would take some time to get used to I thought. Moving from my conventional 2-way monitors to a dual-concentric arrangement was another risk I suppose, but I have to say it has paid off.

The Tannoy Gold 7 have been a breath of fresh air and I love the clarity of image and detail provided by the dual-concentric speakers. There's plenty of bass extension which seems smooth contributing to an overall pretty flat sound. All of this depends on what you are mixing I guess, but I am really surprised how good they sound at the price-point.

Other features are useful - having an attenuater and HF trim on the front is really useful. My monitors are positioned on the desktop on a pair of Fluid de-couplers, so they are close to the wall. I'm using the bass adjustment on the rear to accommodate this, which works perfectly. I like the standby mode as well as it saves fiddling about trying to find the on-off switch on the rear every time you want to use them. The input arrangement is nice with the facility to attach to an additional device via a stereo mini-jack as well as the normal XLR and RCA. Using this with the stereo link cable provided means you can plug-in a phone or other device and play directly through the Tannoys. The speakers have auto-signal detect, so again no fiddling about connecting stuff.

Build quality and finish is spot on. Pots on the front feel smooth and the cabinets are nicely finished. I guess some people might not like the gold effect trim, but I think it is a nice nod to the Tannoys of the past, in an up-to-date package.

not quite good...
terminaldegree , 12.04.2020
I am using these in a small home office for editing and general listening through my computer at my desk (I have them on angled isolator pads), and will be sending them back or selling them after trying for a week. The high end is revealing without being harsh, and there is definitely low frequency extension beyond the listed specification, and I like the front porting and available adjustments, but there are a few quality problems here: 1) Self noise is high (amplifier hiss), compared to the cheaper monitors these replaced. 2) It picks up a lot of interference from other electrical signals [nothing else I've used is this problematic]. 3) Gain knobs on the front feel cheap, and quite different from one monitor to the next. 4) Frequency response isn't as smooth as I'd like, particularly in the mid-bass. A tone sweep through 100-300Hz was a disaster of different amplitudes, granted I'm working in a spare bedroom, not a recording studio.

Loving these!
DMM , 12.06.2020
Been using Tannoy's dual concentric tech since I was 15 years old. It's the only type of speaker I fully and truly trust. This is a great follow up to Tannoy's System 600 line up.

Most amazing monitors...
Raygun76, 13.04.2020
Best monitors I have used to date, significant improvement on the previous Tannoy range (which are also great) due to the use of concentric high/low end drivers which gives nice clear reproduction... currently being used in a relatively small spare bedroom (approx. 2m x 3m) and have barely needed to go above -12 on input setting (lucky I didn't buy the 8" set). Have done a couple of mix projects since getting them which has seen very quick balancing of levels/frequencies, which play back well on all systems tried - iPhone, crappy computer speakers, car stereo, as well as nicer high end stereo systems. To top it all off, these arrived just before the current lockdown circumstances whereby I lost access to a shared studio space, so the timing and delivery by Thomann was also excellent!!
