TC-Helicon Voice Tone H1
Ward-at-work, 16.05.2013
I have owned a few TC-Helicon Harmony-G units in the past and thought I would try the H1. Its really simple to hook up and use and has acceptable harmony tones. You do have to choose your harmonies before you perform a song and cannot change them on the fly (as you can with the Harmony-G). The harmonies tend to waver at times or are perhaps too sensitive but I cannot tell yet if this is due to guitar chord sensing or ambient noise at gigs. What I do know is that the Harmony-G unit did not have this problem, but then it was a more expensive unit. To sum up, I would not buy this unit as my main vocal harmonizer, and only use mine as a back up to my Harmony-G.

TC-Helicon Voice Tone H1 ... cool ...
Daniel186, 22.07.2011
Well, it is obvious in Hannover and very difficult to get good and reliable backing vocals. What if you do not want to do without? Search for alternatives ...

So I came across the TC Helicon Voice Tone H1. I had from the previously unknown Canadian company a few days earlier TC-Helicon T1 added, because I felt the vocals over our PA very spongy. Already from this device I was very impressed with the sound, the processing and the overall reputation. But this is another report ...

Back to H1. Until then, I had no idea how harmonizer and vocal effects sounded. This has changed quickly and positively. The first plus was the service. Three Potis, done. As a friend of fast and clear operations - very ingenious.

There are two methods of harmonization. Either the instrument is supplied with appropriate harmonics via a connected guitar, which, if it is not a jazz jazz, is surprisingly fast and not at all noticeably analyzed and derived from it the corresponding vocal harmonies. This "actually not present time delay" has impressed me heavily.

The second method is the key selection. A key can be set using a potentiometer. If it is, I prefer however the first variant, because it mE more precise works. The second poti is responsible for the arrangement of the vocal parts. Here one can choose between thirds and fifths under and over the main voice. The last controller is responsible for the intensity of the signal that is triggered. Quasi "how much" second voice.

So, now to the question "for whom" and "for what". Basically for all and everything, whereby the device is of course also its limits. At certain speeds it becomes somewhat unclean. So fast the processor is not. With a whole band in the background "playful" however the. We use it for a rockabilly blues rock swing project. Especially for tracks like Surfin'USA, Some Girls, etc., this effect is impressive and creates confused faces in the audience. However, I must mention that the H1 is quite an instrument, if one wants to use it correctly and sensibly.

I've switched the unit on to our guitarist, I'm playing double bass and singing, and in this combination it takes some practice to activate the device in some places and then switch it off, since that is often so unfavorable between singing and rhythms. But it is a matter of practice. For seated guitarists it is top.

To conclude ...

Sure, there is better equipment in higher price classes - but ... if you know what you want to use it ... We do not need a chorus, just a "fatter voice" for the chorus, some emphasis ... that makes the H1 whole amazing. In addition, the singer does not have to adjust to someone - the H1 synchronizes the singer.
For all the above inserts absolute purchase recommendation. A robust - because metal - cool product. Very impressed ...
