Good for the price. Not top quality but you get what you pay for. Have used for gigs without problem.

Hit and miss.
10.07.2015
Unfortunately after ordering 6 of these cables I found defects in 2 of them that rendered them unusable. 1 had a small knurl meaning that it wouldn't fit into the microphone itself and the other was completely broken inside meaning that the only signal I got from it was constant buzzing and crackling. The other 4 however are great cheap little cables, well worth it. Just bare in mind you may get 1 or 2 duff cables.

Ok cable
18.01.2015
An ok cable for a good price. That's about how I'd sum it up! It is quite a thin one so it may be liable to break if chucked about too much or used for heavy gigging. It will more than suffice as a backup or to be used at home though. Decent length so it's adequate for using live should you choose to do so. The microphone end did seem a bit snug to fit in my microphone but I suspect that was down to the microphone rather than my cable. Just raising that point in case it is a common issue.

Some reliability problems, sometimes mic cuts out.
Michael2815, 31.07.2015
Bought maybe eight or ten of these thomann mic cables for gigs, quality varies. As long as the vocalist does not touch the mic, they are ok. Drop outs and clicks occur with different brands of mic. So we bought a line tester from Thomann to test every cable, all cables tested as ok.

the plastic fixing may be to blame, there was another system before with screws that got loose and lost, now another screwless type replaced that, but both types of cable gave some problems.

Rang Thomann who recommended more expensive cables.

Got one to quality cable for comparison and yes, the more expensive cables are better, no dropouts or clicks.

For this price it's more than enough! But if you into Hi-End thing - it's a trash or for tests.

Worth Upgrading
25.03.2014
It will be really worth upgrading to try and get a better sound. For a large installations where you need 48 of these for desk patching between rooms (cheaper alt native to multicore) then they'll be fine. But for high class mics use a high class cable.

Good product but screws fall out
Rinaldo U., 07.12.2013
The actual cable used for these cables is excellent quality, i know because I chopped the plugs off and soldered on some different ones.... Why did I do this? Because the screws fall out of the older type of XLR connectors (a well known fact) i also found that the male plugs were too tight in certain sockets. Thomann should consider putting better connectors on these and charging a bit more.

Spend a little more for "pro" cables
Spanna, 12.05.2014
Other reviews for these cables are good and indicate good value for money. My only problem was that the socket (female) connector only made intermittent contact with Shure SM58 mics. I remade those ends with Neutrik connectors and eliminated my problem - but nearly returned an SM58 as being faulty before I realised what the problem was. I'd therefore recommend paying a few EUR more and buying leads specified as having Neutrik connectors for use with microphones. They did work fine between mixer and other equipment and are good budget leads.

Budget XLR lead - they work - connections not brilliant but they do what they need to do.

Cheap and ok
18.11.2016
Cables seem very soft and bendy, which could be a good thing, but at the same time they seem to twist a lot. Once they get twisted they sort of retain most of it, so coiling them nicely is quite difficult. None has failed in a months time though.

A bit to cheap
LinusL, 13.01.2014
When buying mic cables, I took the cheapest way around. I regret it somewhat afterwards. It was no big money, but the quality of the connectors is not very good, it does not fit in some of my mics and preamps, which is really distrubing. Next time I got one with Neutrik-connectors - and I sure stick with them for now on.

Cheap and easy
Matthew A., 08.10.2013
These XLRs are handy to have as back up to higher quality cables. I would recommend them more so for studio environments where they would not be moved around very much.

The screws tend to loosen very quickly but you het what you pay for. I always have a few of these as back up.

OK for the price
Douglas C., 10.11.2014
The sssnake is perfectly useable but the quality of the plugs and cable is only acceptable and not as good as I had hoped. Still no problems with the functionality after significant use. Given the price this is an OK product.

Reasonably good lead at a low price
29.05.2016
Good, functional cable, but I find the plugs quite flimsy, unable to cope with the wear-and-tear of constant gigging. More suitable to a static, studio environment.
