C
pocket rocket

This was the best musical purchase I have ever made, quite simply because it let me travel with a trumpet without worry. I traveled from Cuba to Mexico and Guatemala, playing this lttle trumpet along the way, jamming with local musicians and even was offered a job playing with a group in Belize! I made a soft case for it but after that I could just throw it into my rucksack and off I went. Although lacking the resonance of a standard trumpet, this pocket rocket has good tuning and can still deliver a powerful enough sound, depending on who's behind the mouthpiece.

JN
powerful little thing!

I'm very happy with this pocket trumpet. Comes with a nice case, valve-oil, mouthpiece, and even a pair of white gloves. It takes a while to get used to the smaller dimensions and a bit of practice to get the tone right, but then it is a surprisingly soulful instrument. very good and voluptuous sound, only the tone ends a little abruptly when I want to fade out. It doesn't quite possess the depths of my full-size trumpet but its volume, tone and response are much better than I had expected. I do a lot of busking in shopping centres so the size of the trumpet is ideal as I don't have to carry any clunky equipment with me, on top of that it's an eye-catcher, which makes it easier to convince people to part with their money! Quality-wise it seems to be a solid, well-built instrument, only when pulling out the slightly ill-fitting tuning slides you can see that it's not an expensive make. Probably owing to the small dimensions water accumulates quite quickly inside the trumpet, especially in colder weather. This water is difficult to get rid of through the water valves and only by frequent shaking, blowing and turning the instrument upside down can you avoid an unpleasant bubbling sound while playing. Overall an amazing little trumpet for very little money! I bought it as part of the deal that includes a trumpet stand and a brass cleaning set. Highly recommended - even better value for your money!!

Very versatile

Yes a normal size trumpet is easier to play and more in tune, but this robust little bb trumpet is easier to keep near at all times after its size, and for some reason it sounds awesome dark or mellow.

Pocket perfection

I need something small for a trip away, so ordered this. I have to say, I’m surprised, really surprised, and pleasantly so. The case feels sturdy, quite light and compact, and easy to carry. A small bottle of valve oil and care instructions in various languages were included in an outer pocket.

The trumpet itself has a nice finish, with no obvious blemishes in the lacquer (which I’ve seen in other more expensive trumpets), the slides move nicely and smoothly, and the valves spring confidently quickly. Playing it is what surprised me most. Once the main tuning slide was suitably adjusted and tuned I found it gave a nice tone which feels balanced and even throughout the whole range from bottom F# to a high register E. If I were learning to play the trumpet from scratch, I’d probably choose this.
