Flagship Arturia stage keyboard

Arturia AstroLab 88, front view

The AstroLab 88 is the flagship incarnation of Arturia's stage-keyboard concept, bringing the full scope of the V Collection's instrument engines into a professional hammer-action performance instrument. Fully standalone, it runs a local version of Analog Lab – Arturia's performance-focused software environment – placing over 44 premium modelled instruments at the player's fingertips without the need for a computer. Its classic 88-note Fatar hammer-action keybed delivers the dynamic range required for pianos, electric pianos, and other expressive instruments, while its bi-timbral architecture allows multiple sounds to be combined within a single, cohesive performance setup. Full integration with Arturia's software ecosystem ensures that sounds can be created and refined in Analog Lab or the V Collection, then transferred seamlessly to the AstroLab 88, ready to perform on stage.

Performance architecture and sound control

AstroLab 88 retains the same powerful performance architecture found across the AstroLab range, but pairs it with a control surface and keybed designed for demanding performers. It is bi-timbral, organising sounds into Single or dual-layer Presets that can be split or layered across the full 88-note keyboard with independent levels and transposition. A central navigation encoder with integrated display enables rapid preset browsing and set management, supported by dedicated transport and performance buttons. Eight assignable rotary encoders provide immediate access to instrument macros – including brightness, timbre, modulation, and time-based shaping – alongside insert effects, delay, reverb, and master EQ. An onboard arpeggiator, chord and scale modes, and a MIDI looper extend its creative reach, allowing complex, performance-ready textures without external sequencing or additional hardware.

Built for serious keyboard players

AstroLab 88 is designed for players who prioritise touch, dynamics, and a full-register keyboard in a live setting. Pianists, multi-instrumentalists, and touring professionals who require the sensitivity of a hammer-action keybed can access the entire Arturia sound universe without compromise. Its 88 keys support authentic piano and electric piano performances, extended split configurations, and richly layered textures that make full use of the instrument's range. Advanced MIDI integration allows it to function as a primary instrument or as part of a larger rig. At the same time, AstroLab 88 transitions naturally into DAW workflows, operating both as a premium performance instrument and as a central sound source within a production setup. Musicians can move freely between composition, rehearsal, and stage performance without sacrificing playability or continuity.

About Arturia

Arturia's success story began with software emulations of well-known analogue synthesizers such as the Moog Minimoog, Sequential Prophet-5, and Oberheim SEM. The popular software instruments included in the V Collection are still flagship products of the French developer today. Over time, Arturia has gradually expanded its range and now also offers a host of hardware devices, ranging from synthesizers and keyboard controllers to sequencers. Since then, the former software developer has thus also become a household name in the world of analogue synthesizers and other equipment.

Connectivity and ecosystem

AstroLab 88 is built to operate as part of a broader setup without becoming dependent on one. True to its software heritage, it integrates seamlessly into DAW-based environments. Its USB-C connection functions as both an audio interface and a MIDI controller, while two XLR/TRS combo inputs with gain control allow microphones, guitars, or line-level sources to be routed through the AstroLab for processing or into a wider DAW setup. Standard 5-pin MIDI In/Out and multiple pedal inputs make it easy to expand a live rig with additional keyboards, sound modules, or other sources. Bluetooth audio streaming and Wi-Fi connectivity simplify playback and wireless management, while the dedicated AstroLab Connect app enables mobile sound organisation and preset transfer. This studio-to-stage continuity preserves a consistent workflow and sound identity between production and performance environments.

The V Collection – full range on stage

AstroLab 88 ships with thousands of curated presets drawn from Arturia’'s V Collection and Pigments engines, spanning Moog-style analogue synthesis, DX7-inspired FM tones, Hammond organ emulations, electric pianos, orchestral textures, and modern hybrid instruments such as Pigments – and thanks to the 88-note range, these sounds breathe at full scale. Rich pianos, lush pads, layered splits, and evolving textures unfold without compromise. When combined with additional sound banks and deeper editing via Analog Lab and the V Collection, its sonic scope expands even further, bringing decades of keyboard history and advanced synthesis into a single performance instrument. Add the arpeggiator, chord and scale modes, and the MIDI looper, and the result is a flagship stage instrument that preserves nuance, authority, and expressive depth – capable of replacing an entire multi-keyboard rig.
