Natural, open sound

The Audio-Technica ATH‑R30x is a pair of studio headphones with an open‑back design that delivers a natural sound with a very defined sense of space. The headphones' build quality combines lightweight yet durable materials with breathable velour ear pads, for a long life and a high level of comfort. In terms of sound, the ATH-R30x presents a finely detailed image, with plenty of clarity across the highs and midrange, and very good speech intelligibility. Alongside that, the bass response is well-balanced for an open‑back design. From a technical standpoint, the Audio-Technica ATH-R30x draws on proven elements from much more expensive models in the manufacturer's range, bringing them together at an accessible price.

Light, loud and robust

Because of the use of carbon‑magnesium, the Audio‑Technica ATH‑R30x is both exceptionally light and remarkably robust – comfortable to wear while also built to last. Inside the ear cups are 40mm drivers, covering a wide frequency range from 15Hz to 25kHz, ensuring that both the low end and the high end extend beyond the typical limits of human hearing. The impedance of 36 ohms is low enough to provide decent listening levels even from low‑powered consumer headphone outputs. A fixed, two-sided 3m cable gives plenty of reach for working at an audio interface in a home studio, as well as for hi‑fi listening through a headphone amplifier or any typical audio source: The 3.5mm headphone jack can also be used with 6.3mm outputs thanks to the adapter included here.

For producers and content creators

For anyone starting out in audio production, the Audio‑Technica ATH‑R30x offers an open‑back option for the home studio that delivers more in terms of sound and comfort than many alternatives in its price range. More experienced content creators, such as podcasters looking for a new open‑back model, can use the ATH-R30x to monitor their recordings in great detail. Singer‑songwriters may also find it a good fit when working on new material, especially if they're aiming for an authentic sound. All this means that, with its combination of an accessible price and excellent audio quality, the Audio‑Technica ATH‑R30x helps bridge the gap between budget‑conscious expectations and genuine listening pleasure.

About Audio-Technica

The Japanese company Audio-Technica was founded in 1962 and at first manufactured affordable phono cartridges. The company has since become acclaimed for a whole range of quality audio products. Audio-Technica released their first headphones in 1974. The company later gained huge popularity among musicians with the release of the AT4060 tube microphone. Audio-Technica focuses on high-quality components at affordable prices. Today, their product range offers a wide variety of microphones, headphones, and turntables as well as many other accessories.

Mixing, editing and hi-fi listening

Anyone who chooses the Audio‑Technica ATH‑R30x will find they're getting a versatile, over‑ear/open‑back headphone suited to both mixing in the home studio and general multimedia editing: It's equally suited to tasks such as mixing songs or to producing podcasts. Equally, the balanced, natural sound profile also makes the ATH-R30x a good option for gaming, films, and hi‑fi listening. Another advantage is that, when used as a hi‑fi headphone, it doesn't require a separate amplifier or even a particularly powerful headphone output.

A part ça RAS,

Decent
Patrik aus M. 09.08.2025
Decent but there is something about them that I can't really define. Got them after some youtube reviews but. Coming from akg k612 pro, these sound a bit weak and bass is, hmm not sure how to express myself but a bit more boxed and boomy maybe and they don't feel as "open" as the akg. I wanted to try something new after having had akg's for the last 30 years or so but right now I am a bit angry at myself for not spending 50 euros more. Maybe they will open up more after a break in period, we'll see but for right now, I would probably go for some of their bigger brothers/sisters or some other brand.
