Another Winner from Behringer
Roger Carlin 23.05.2020
I've been a fan of Behringer microphones since I bought their Ultravoice XM8500 about five years ago. It amazes me that they can offer a high quality product for such a low price.
The SL 85S is one of several new mics Behringer have released in 2020 and it continues with the tradition of high quality & value for money. It comes in a plastic carrying case, with a mic stand adapter, and has on/off switch. It feels heavy and well-made. I'd say compared with the XM8500, the SL 85S has a very different sound characteristic, in that it is less "processed" and more natural than the XM8500. This can be seen as a good thing, leaving the user to add any EQ, if desired.
I've only used the 85 S for spoken word, home-recording applications and would sum it up as very useable. Far better than I expected, considering the low price.
In my opinion, it is excellent value and I can imagine it being used for karaoke, disco, public address & podcasting. It could also prove useful for bands or music-makers on a tight budget. Another good microphone from Behringer!

RM
Incredible value for money
Rares M 30.06.2020
This microphone is excellent. I have so far used it to record vocals and it reproduces the sound very well. The vocals sound very clear and full. Having used ans SM58 in the past, this microphone can surely hold its own against the SM58. The build quality is also of the same high standard as the sound it reproduces. The microphone feels sturdy and has weight to it which makes it feel solid when held. For the price, there is no hesitation in getting one, it is incredible value for money from Behringer.

I
Reduces Feedback In tight spaces
Ixisis 24.02.2021
The first thing I noticed about the Behringer SL85S is that the bass roll off is very much like the SM58. I never used the SM58 myself on stage as I am an AKG fan but Behringerare in a different price league. I have 6 Behringer mics and they all give a good account of themselves. The SL 85S is doinbg just that. The Sure original SM58 and the Beta's cant match the AKG 3800 on stage. The lead singer refused to use them because at volume he had to strain to get his voice out at which levels it would feedback and the AKG 3000 delivered with ease a better register for his voice avoiding feedback. Now I am in a small studio and I play guitar through a bass amp to get a thicker sound. The vocals go through that amp too (Laney) The AKG 3800 has a lower Frequency respose than the Behringer SL85S so feedback at volume is a problem. The SL85S is very good as it allows higher vocals level and cuts through the Guitar and efffects. The on off switch is very quiet. Lets face it, this is a real bargain even if the mic holder is too small. For the price add it to your order if below free shipping limit its a no brainer.

Better that a SM58?
Robert13b 12.05.2022
My finding is that it sounds brighter that a SM58. I had the opinion that our SM58 are low in the high frequenties.
