Poorly finished

This bass is what you'd expect for this price.
Except for it being badly finished. The string bushings at the back were loose. The pickuard was allready scratched.

All the mounted hardware is of good quality but it'll need e proper set-up. The thrussrod works great. But the nut - action is too high.

!!! be aware, it is a short-scale bass with string-through body and bridge. The bridge does not allow you to go directly through. There are no holes for it. So finding proper length strings can be a chalange since long scale strings are too long but some short scale strings may no be long enough.

Brilliant Bass

I have a USA Fender Precision bass, had many more basses in the last thirty years, this SQ I have found to be remarkable, if you are a headstock badge snob it may not be for you, if your looking for a great Mustang bass give it a go. finish, set up, play ability all brilliant

I've had this bass for a while now and I still consider it to be a good purchase. The fit and finish of the instrument is good. There are no blemishes or dings in the finish from the factory. There were some odd spots on the chrome finish, but after some rubbing they came off. The only problem I have encountered has to do with the pickup. The height adjustment bolts are threaded into the plastic of the pickup. When I tried to raise the pickup, this thread started to fail. As a result, I had to fastened the bolts with a few nuts. It is not an expensive instrument, but still, it shouldn't happen.
The bass plays nice and isn't heavy. Mine is around 2,5 kilograms. Despite the gloss lacquer, the neck doesn't feel sticky. It has a nice, clear but punchy sound.
To conclude, the pickup problem was rather annoying, but once fixed the Mustang bass proved to be a fun and reliable instrument for the money!

Als Gitarrist habe ich den indonesischen Mustang als Gelegenheitsbass und Lerninstrument erworben. Ein normaler Bass ist mir groß, da kleine Hände. Besonders gefällt mir der schmale Hals, das passt vermutlich nicht jedem.

Die Ausstattung würde ich als ausreichend beschreiben. Ein Pickup, zwei Potis, fertig. Einen Gigbag habe ich vermisst, das können andere Hersteller besser.

Die Lackierung hat auf der Rückseite einen Fehler (Nase, kleine Luftblasen)), bei einem teureren Instrument hätte ich das nicht akzeptiert. Der Hals ist wunderbar zu bespielen auch der Sattel ist ordentlich gesägt.

Das Setup würde ich als kompletten Ausfall einstufen (Ok, die Oktavreinheit stimmt). Mit den (ordentlichen) 45-105 Saiten ergibt sich eine katastrophale Saitenlage. Halsstab viel zu locker, Steg deutlich zu hoch. Der klemmende Saitenniederhalter muß geschmiert werden.

Alles kein Thema, können andere Hersteller aber deutlich besser.

Mein Fazit: Spielt sich nach ordentlicher Einstellung sehr angenehm, klingt auch wie erwartet (mit Roundwound Saiten). Sieht sehr schick aus und ist nicht schwer. Die Kopflastigkeit ist wohl modellbedingt.

Also Fender (oder Thomann), ein ordentliches Setup sollte doch wohl drin sein.
