Harley Benton R-446 Plum Metallic

Just received mine this morning and I'm blown away. First of all, looking at the photos on the site there's a couple worrying things. 1. There's visible glue along the neck under the binding and 2. The "veneer" on the headstock isn't flush to the wood close to the nut. Much to my surprise the finish on mine is flawless.

Pros
- The paint finish is flawless and the colour is great!
- The neck has a lovely satin finish and feels great to play.
- The switch and pots feel good and solid but there's a but further down.
- Tuners are solid and seem to hold tune well.
- Have yet to test pickups but I'll be swapping them out anyway.

Cons
- Expected this but the nut isn't great. As they state it is plastic but mine also isn't cut correctly and over hangs the side of the neck and lines the top E too close to the edge because of this. Easy enough to fit a better nut though so not to bothered.
- Frets are good but a couple of sharp edges but nothing a little file and polish work wont fix.
- As mentioned the pots feel solid but having opened it they are cheap mini pots (Expected of course) so worth upgrading.

Bare in mind this guitar is 126 pound and it definitely punches above that price but it is still 126.

Great beginner guitar and a great modding platform.

Antes de nada quiero decir que el servicio de atención al cliente funciona muy bien, tuve un problema con la guitarra y enseguida fui atendido y se me propuso una solución, un 10.

He decidido quedarme con la guitarra porque tengo mas de 20 años de experiencia modificando y reparando guitarras y bajos y puedo arreglar algunos de los fallos de fabricación que he encontrado en ella, si eres principiante deberías pasar por el luthier y el coste sería casi el de la mitad del valor de la guitarra.

Lo bueno:

El color es una maravilla.

Las clavijas de afinación funcionan suaves manteniendo la afinación sin problemas.

El perfil del mástil es muy cómodo y facilita la ejecución de frases rápidas, es muy parecido al mástil de las Jackson Js32.

Lo malo:

El tacón del mástil en su parte superior dificulta mucho el acceso a los trastes desde el 17 al 24.

El puente está torcido, no influye en nada negativamente por el tipo de puente que es pero es un fallo claro en control de calidad, se puede arreglar sin problema si tienes experiencia previa.

Las pastillas no tienen fuerza, los palm mutes suenan amortiguados y sin afilar, emborronan bastante el sonido, nada de harmónicos y nada de dinámica. El split coil da la sensación de que solo reduce a la mitad la salida de las humbucker pero no tienen el carácter de unas single coils.

Los trastes algunos están bien terminados y otros cortan bastante así que también hay que trabajar en ellos para dejarlos bien.

La guitarra llegó con las cuerdas totalmente pegadas al diapasón, trasteo absoluto en todas las cuerdas al aire, después de tocar el alma y acción se ha arreglado.

Me ha decepcionado bastante el control de calidad en fábrica y de Thomann al enviar un instrumento en esas condiciones, parece un b-stock.
Si eres principiantes tienes mejores opciones por un poco mas de dinero, si eres manitas experimentado probablemente la guitarra sea un buena plataforma para modificar y ajustar a tu gusto como es mi caso y por eso he decidido quedarme con ella pese a las cosas negativas antes mencionadas.

Als ich die Features gelesen habe habe ich die Gitarre sofort bestellt. Allerdings als Umbaubasis. (Tonabnehmer, Tuner, Potis etc..) Ich finde es toll, das es endlich mal ne Einsteiger Gitarre mit 24 Bünden und ohne diese unsäglichen schlechten und überflüssigen Tremolos gibt. Alle Farbe finde ich super.
Die Gitarre ist für den Preis unschlagbar. Die Verarbeitung ist in dem Preissegment mehr als gut. Das bei dem Tarif natürlich die Tuner und die Pickup´s keine Raketen sind ist klar. Die Tonabnehmer klingen etwas "dünn" und drucklos. Als Einsteiger-Gitarre aber wirklich zu empfehlen.

Ein entscheidender Grund die Gitarre zu bestellen, war die Angabe: "Halsprofil: Slim" darunter verstehe ich sowas wie die flachen Ibanez, oder Jackson Hälse. Für mich ist das Halsprofil aber eher klassisches "C-Profil" und mir persönlich zu dick und somit lohnt sich der Umbau leider, leider nicht. Das Halsprofil ist aber Geschmackssache.

Alles in allem eine echte Bereicherung im unteren Preissegment. Man bekommt für den günstigen Tarif eine sehr gute Gitarre. Wer dem Anfänger einen Gefallen tun will, tauscht die Mechaniken.
