The complete Bluetooth package

The Mackie CR5 BT Gen 3 is a compact active monitor system designed to bridge everyday listening duties – from home entertainment and gaming to serious desktop music production and mixing – while delivering noticeably greater output headroom and deeper low-frequency extension than the smaller CR models. Part of Mackie's third-generation CR (Creative Reference) series, the system pairs a powered speaker with a passive partner to provide a balanced, monitoring-grade stereo setup straight out of the box. A more powerful Class D amplifier delivers 100W of total output, giving the CR5 BT the physical presence to fill larger rooms and handle higher maximum volumes with ease. With its extended low-end, multiple analogue inputs, and familiar front-panel controls, it integrates seamlessly into home studios, content-creation setups, and personal listening environments where scale and clarity are equally important. Bluetooth audio enables wireless playback from phones, tablets, or laptops.

Shape the sound

The Mackie CR5 BT uses rigid MDF cabinets with rear-firing bass reflex ports, designed to support deeper low-frequency reproduction while maintaining control in nearfield and small-room setups. Each speaker pairs a larger 5" woven-fibre woofer with a 1" silk-dome tweeter, crossed over at 3kHz for a smooth handover between lows, mids, and highs. Compared to the smaller CR models, the CR5 BT delivers yet more weight and presence in the low end, extending comfortably into bass territory without overwhelming the midrange. Vocals, guitars, and dialogue remain clear and well defined, while the top end stays detailed without harshness. Stereo imaging remains stable and well balanced at nearfield and small-room listening distances, making the CR5 equally suitable for production work and immersive listening.

Suit the space

Designed for desk-based and small-room workflows, the Mackie CR5 BT suits producers working in project studios, content creators editing audio or video, and users who want a more full-range listening experience without stepping into large-format monitors. Balanced 1/4" TRS inputs connect directly to audio interfaces, mixers, or other studio gear, while RCA and 3.5mm stereo inputs accommodate computers, hi-fi equipment, and other consumer sources. A front-panel headphone output automatically mutes speakers – ideal for late-night sessions or critical listening. With more low-end presence and headroom than the CR3.5 and CR4.5, the CR5 BT is a strong choice for users who want confident monitoring alongside accurate everyday playback. Bluetooth audio adds wireless playback from phones, tablets, or laptops.

About Mackie

In 1988 Greg Mackie, already a successful co-founder of a pro audio company, founded Mackie Designs Inc. with the goal of producing affordable, high-quality mixers. The company's first official product, the LM-1602 line mixer, was initially produced within the four walls of his home. As sales figures were encouraging, its successor model CR-1604 soon followed - and in 1991 the company finally moved into its first proper production facility. The combination of reliable quality and low prices quickly brought the company enormous success, so that by 1995 Mackie had already sold 100,000 products. In 2003, the company was renamed LOUD Audio, LLC so that there is no longer any confusion between the Mackie brand and its former parent company of the same name.

Scaling the CR system

Sitting near the top of the Mackie CR Gen 3 monitor range, the CR5 BT is the most forgiving model in the series, offering greater low-frequency extension and headroom for larger desks and small-room setups where listening distance and volume may vary. Its increased low-frequency reach reduces the immediate need for a subwoofer in many setups, while still retaining the controlled voicing expected from nearfield monitors. For users who require deeper sub-bass for electronic music, gaming, or multimedia, the CR5 BT can also be paired with a CR8S BT subwoofer, forming a powerful yet compact 2.1 system. This modular approach allows the CR system to scale naturally — from focused production work to room-filling playback — without changing speakers or workflow.
