Amp:
Electro-acoustics are great for going straight into the console (a DI box is quite handy then), but lately, more and more "acoustic artists" are opting for amps specifically designed for this purpose. The advantage is crystal clear: just like their electric counterparts, they have their own amp on stage, avoiding dependence on the monitor system, where they might clash with vocals.
Effects:
These are becoming increasingly common too. Nowadays, every major effects pedal manufacturer also has pedals designed for electro-acoustic instruments.
Most of these pedals offer various preset sounds, along with more sophisticated tone controls than what the guitar typically has. A chorus effect is practically standard, but compressors and reverbs are often included and quite practical too!
