Polar Pattern Supercardioid
Two transducers, one drum
The Shure Nexadyne 2 is a dynamic supercardioid microphone specifically designed for capturing kick drums and other low-frequency sources. Featuring Shure's patented Revonic Dual-Engine transducer technology, which employs two precisely matched capsules working in tandem – one facing the source for clarity and isolation, the other wired out of phase to cancel mechanical noise and handling interference – it captures the kick drum's natural sonic character with little to no additional signal processing required. Its focused supercardioid polar pattern effectively rejects off-axis sources, a feature useful both in the studio and on stage.
Precise and powerful bass
The Shure Nexadyne 2 is specifically designed to capture the attack, body, and tail of kick drums. Its wide frequency response (20Hz–16kHz) captures the full low-end resonance, and air escaping the shell, while a boost at 4.5kHz highlights the impact of beater on drumhead. The built-in passive filter scoops the 450Hz range, attenuating low-mid boxiness that can easily muddy a mix. The result is a well-balanced sound that works equally well for acoustic recordings and for Rock, Pop, and Electronic music productions, where it provides a solid foundation for compression, EQ, and further dynamic treatment. Housed in a rugged die-cast zinc body with a dual mesh grille, the Nexadyne 2 is both durable and discreet on stage, thanks to its non-reflective profile.
The expert's mic
The Nexadyne 2 is aimed at live sound and studio engineers, as well as drummers themselves – anyone who requires a specialised and consistent kick drum mic that'll save time on remedial EQ at the mixing desk. Its off-axis rejection is a welcome property on busy stages where bleed from cymbals, snares, and floor monitors is a constant challenge, and its detailed and dynamic sound signature translates well to professional recording environments. Drummers and bassists who manage their own sound will find it a straightforward and dependable choice, whether close-miking a kick in a rehearsal room or positioning it in front of a bass guitar amp. Compact, reliable, and easy to deploy, the Nexadyne 2 presents many practical advantages when working fast turnarounds at live events or back-to-back studio sessions.
About Shure
The American company Shure began developing microphones during the early 1930s and is one of the pioneers of the audio engineering sector. Models such as the 55 Unidyne – known to many as the "Elvis microphone" – and the SM57 and SM58 which appeared in the mid-1960s are still ubiquitous in live sound production today. They enjoy cult status among musicians and technicians alike. In the 1990s, Shure introduced the first wireless microphones and in-ear monitoring systems and became a market leader in this field. In addition to microphones, Shure offers a wide range of earphones and headphones for studio and live use, as well as various accessories.
From the stage to the studio
The Nexadyne 2's integrated swivel mount with thumbscrew enables precise positioning to capture each source's sweet spot, while the 3/8" thread adapter included ensures compatibility with standard mic stands. The rear-mounted XLR connector – positioned away from the swivel joint – keeps cabling tidy and accessible even in the tightest setups. Beyond the drum kit, its full-bodied low-end response and compact dimensions make it a capable and discreet choice for bass amplifiers and large percussion instruments, while its robust construction and the storage pouch it ships with make it equally suited to the demands of touring. From festival stages and club rigs to professional recording studios, the Nexadyne 2 delivers consistent, reliable performance wherever it is deployed.
In the spotlight
Revonic Dual‑Engine transducers
Shure's patented Revonic Dual-Engine transducer technology combines two precisely matched transducers in the same body – one facing the source, one facing backward and phase-inverted. Acoustically coupled with matched responses, the two transducers work together so that mechanical noise, stage rumble, and low-frequency interference are suppressed through phase cancellation, while the desired acoustic signal is preserved and reinforced. The mic's internal geometry further contributes to off-axis rejection of mid and high frequencies entering the rear transducer's vents, and the presence boost characteristic of the Nexadyne series is achieved acoustically rather than electrically – with no EQ circuitry involved. The result is a natural, consistent sound that requires minimal treatment, particularly in demanding live environments.
