A small mic set for an even smaller price

The DC 1000 from Thomann's in-house brand the t.bone is an affordable drum mic set that comes with two types of microphone: The BD 200 bass drum microphone and the CD 55 tom and snare drum microphones. The balanced sound quality of this microphone set, which is primarily aimed at beginners looking for an affordable way to mic up an entire drum kit, makes it a very popular choice in its price segment. With its solid workmanship and handy features – such as rim clamps and a transport case – the DC 1000 offers great value for money.

Great sound on a budget

The dynamic BD 200 mic is optimised for picking up the largest drums, delivering a rich bass drum sound that will give recordings plenty of low-end punch, and it is also ideal for wind instruments. Four dynamic CD 55 microphones complete the set, and are used to record both toms and snare drums, where they produce an impressive, full-bodied sound that complements the BD 200 bass drum microphone perfectly. The sound quality is also exceptional, especially given the set's affordable price.

Perfect for beginners

Thanks to its affordable price and excellent sound quality, the t.bone DC 1000 drum microphone set is the perfect introduction to the world of drum miking, and the microphones it contains can handle demo recordings and small gigs with ease. This lean yet effective combination of five microphones allows even beginners to easily record a drumkit comprising five drum shells. The basics can be dealt with in more than satisfactory fashion if the DC 1000 set is supplemented with (for instance) the EM 700 stereo set (also from the t.bone), which will enrich any recording with a spatial image.

About the t.bone

Since 1994, the t.bone has been one of Thomann's in-house brands, and its name can be found on devices such as headphones, wireless systems, in-ear equipment, and various microphones and matching accessories. "the t.bone" products are made exclusively by renowned companies who also manufacture products for other well-known brands. This provides a clear advantage: Brand-quality products at very reasonable prices. And word gets around: One in seven Thomann customers has already bought at least one product from the t.bone.

Clumsy drummer? Not a problem!

The t.bone DC 1000 drum microphone set is sure to exceed every user's expectations thanks to its sound quality and affordable price, as well as the extra features that come with it. Considering the price, this complete set is a dream come true for beginners, as it includes special rim clamps and a transport case, eliminating the need to purchase these separately. One of the set's particular strengths is how easy it is to handle: The CD 55 mics can be locked directly to the drum shells using the rim clamps, and the sturdy housing of both models prevents damage caused by any poorly aimed drumsticks.

The t-bone DC1000 drum mic set
ronhow 13.01.2015
This drum mic set is really, really great! Don’t get too hung up on the quality of the sound and all that jazz . That might be something for recording engineers but, for live sound they make a noise and sound fine, are robust and so easy to install. The clips are also very good. I over-tightened one trying to fit the bass mic to the rim of a kick drum and thought it was broken but all that was wrong was that there is a small e-clip holding the screw in place on the moving part of the bracket and that had been pushed off (and lost on stage somewhere) … so, it is an easy fix for a few pence with another e-clip. All of the mics respond really well to high, mid and low EQ tweeks (you can hear the changes quite markedly) and they’ll certainly pick up all the finer nuances and ringing on a drum so, they have a good range. The kick drum mic is also fine and produces the crack well rather than being boomy ... what more do you want to get the sound of that kick drum out front? The four top of kit mics are made of some really tough resin plastic which is brilliant because they’re light enough to fix in place yet have enough substance to take a hit. The Bass mic is metal cased and relatively heavy enough to sit still. I love this drum mic set … it’s always in my PA kit should it be needed and it does the job very well … I Just wish there was a clamp for the kick mic. I got an extra clamp and I fit the bass mic to the leg of a cymbal stand and aim it at the bass drum port hole.

worth it

Sensitive mic which is very good. Qaulity is not bad. Although the case is not sturdy. And the lock isn't really safe, or perhaps I should not call it a lock.
The reason I am giving it 5 stars is because its more that what I have expected for the price.

Awesome budget mics
Geoff Turner 15.08.2013
I was extremely impressed when these arrived and have been using these now for almost a year and haven't had a problem. The quality is up there with the likes of "Audio Technika", "AKG" and "Shure". Definate recommend to anyone on a budget.

Really OK for price?
MarcoX 13.08.2020
Yes, I think yes for home and small stage use. With some mixing and mastering correction can be used proudly. Snare and lower toms are with less sound quality and range but can be mixed or solved by finding the right position from toms/drum heads. I like them. Price very attractive.
