A studio control centre

The Focusrite Clarett+ 8Pre is a 19" rack-mount USB audio interface designed to record up to eight microphone and line-level sources, along with electric guitar or bass, making it well suited to a wide range of recording setups. Ten analogue outputs provide flexible routing for external mixing desks and multi-channel monitoring, while ADAT digital inputs and outputs allow the system to be expanded when additional channels are needed. High-quality microphone preamps with phantom power switchable in groups of four are paired with premium converters supporting sample rates of up to 192kHz for detailed, accurate audio capture. Fast, stable drivers ensure reliable performance across Windows, macOS, and iOS, with MIDI, S/PDIF, and a word clock output providing further connectivity. A three-year manufacturer's warranty and around-the-clock technical support complete the package.

Premium converters and preamps

The Focusrite Clarett+ 8Pre provides audio and MIDI input and output for Windows and macOS systems, combining high-quality A/D and D/A converters with low-distortion microphone and line preamps to deliver detailed, dynamic sound for both recording and playback. Each input features a switchable analogue Air circuit that changes the input impedance to 2.2 kiloohms and applies two filters to gently boost the high frequencies by around 4dB, recreating the character of the classic Focusrite ISA 110 preamp. Two channels also include switchable JFET circuitry, allowing electric guitars and basses to be connected directly while preserving the natural feel and response of the instrument. The result is a versatile interface that adapts easily to a wide range of recording applications.

Fully equipped for the project studio

The Clarett+ 8Pre is designed with project studios and bands in mind, offering a flexible range of inputs and outputs for multitrack recording, external equipment integration, and multi-channel audio setups. Ten six-segment level meters on the front panel provide a clear overview of signal levels, helping to maintain control and avoid unwanted overloads during recording. The ADAT inputs and outputs can be used to expand the interface with a further eight channels at sample rates of up to 48kHz, for example when paired with the Focusrite Clarett+ OctoPre. A comprehensive software bundle including the Hitmaker Expansion, Ableton Live Lite, and a three-month licence for Pro Tools Intro+ is also included, providing a practical starting point for production and recording workflows.

About Focusrite

Founded in 1985 by Rupert Neve, Focusrite quickly made a name for itself with high-quality analogue consoles. Today, the company markets audio interfaces, mic preamps, consoles, analogue EQs, and channel strips as well as hardware and software for digital audio processing. The company is based in High Wycombe, England, and has won numerous industry awards. In addition to the Focusrite Pro line, the company also has subsidiaries that include Adam Audio, Novation, and iOS app creator Ampify Music.

Recording with the whole band

The Focusrite Clarett+ 8Pre offers the flexibility to record a wide range of instruments, with ADAT connectivity expanding the system to support up to 16 channels at the same time. This makes it possible to capture complete bands in rehearsal or live environments, including fully miked drum kits, while also providing valuable options in the project studio where synthesizers, modellers, and playback devices can remain permanently connected. The high-quality microphone preamps deliver clean, detailed recordings without the need for additional external equipment in many situations. Two high-impedance JFET instrument inputs in turn provide a direct connection for electric guitars and basses, while the balanced line inputs and premium converters ensure a rich, dynamic sound with excellent clarity.

It is very solid, very easy to use (on Mac OS) and to configure device. All you need is to go through the settings and adjust it to your preferences. If you are in favour of analog sound and consoles then you will love the free plugins that come with your purchase.

I have tested for more than 5 months now and I couldn't be more happy.
the preamps are extremely clean. I have used with sm7b, tlm103 and other mic. the clarity and warm sound it is remarkable (at least for this price range).

also tested with other preamps of the similar range and all I can tell is that you want regret it.

small cons. is that "Focusrite control" is not the best software to setup a device like this, its not very stable and has limited control over monitoring.

I recently purchased the Focusrite Clarett+ 8Pre, and it has become an essential part of my studio setup. The sound quality is simply outstanding, offering pristine clarity and a natural, warm tone that really shines during both recording and playback. The preamps are incredibly transparent, and the Air feature adds a subtle yet rich high-end presence, making vocals and instruments sit beautifully in the mix.

With its multiple inputs and outputs, the Clarett+ 8Pre provides great flexibility for a range of recording scenarios. It integrates seamlessly with my DAW, offering ultra-low latency, which is perfect for real-time monitoring while recording. The sturdy build quality and compact rack-mountable design ensure that it fits perfectly into my setup without compromising on durability.

Focusrite’s software and control panel are user-friendly, making setup and routing straightforward, even for complex configurations. Whether you’re working on intricate multi-track sessions or just recording a simple demo, the Clarett+ 8Pre delivers professional-grade performance.
