Quilter Aviator Mach 3 Combo

Decided to get one of these after watching and reading just about every review available. They aren’t generally available from uk sources so a bit of a gamble without actually trying one but Thomann to the rescue.
After a week or so of home based playing I am really impressed. Not gigged yet but I can safely say there’s enough power in this 1x12 to peel the paint off walls if your drummer needs it. Played quietly both the cleans and the overdriven sounds are consistent across the range of volume levels. The direct out, for use in a daw or pa, is an excellent representation of the live speaker sound. Good for silent playing and on a quiet stage.
The two independent channels are a great facility, clean and dirty being the obvious initial configuration. Used in conjunction with the 3 button footswitch, the overdrive and the limit controls mean you can get several sounds at your foot without touching any of the knobs. I’ve not really tested all the voices properly yet but they are distinctly different and all respond sensitively to single coil and humbucker pickups using the guitar volume control. The cleans sparkle and the dirty’s will sustain forever if you want them to. Seems to be very comfortable with the few pedals I’ve tried but don’t think I’ll need some of them anymore.
The build quality feels good and the lightweight timber cabinet combined with neo speaker means the whole setup is very portable. The open back cabinet/speaker combination projects well and definitely has enough power to flap your trousers if that’s your thing whilst keeping the cleans clean when you want them that way.
I’m not an instinctive fan of valves. Fine if you’ve got an amp tech and a roadie. Although they are intrinsic to the heritage sound of the electric guitar they are old technology. Definitely not environment friendly (do you want an amp or a fragile electric heater?) The Mach 3 seems to more than adequately cover those heritage sounds as well as have its own characters under the hood. Mr. Quilter is on to something intriguing here.
In summary up to now, this is a great piece of kit.

I needed a decent sounding amp, and easy to transport. Its the lightest amp with enough power to take to gigs, and be heard. My valve amps are a bit too heavy for me to carry now, Im 70 years old. All the controls are easy to use, and work well. The reverb and tremolo are ok, once you get used to them. The other controls {EQ} are very responsive and blend together with the voice settings to create more or less the sound you want. I prefer clean, sparkley punchy sound, which I get from this amp. Some other amps also try to emulate the valve sound, and some may do it better, but they are heavier to carry.This is lightweight to carry, and this is important to me.

Je me suis débarrassé de mes amplis a lampes ( j'en ai gardé un , celui qui a vécu mes aventures depuis plus de 16 ans et que j'adore plus que tout au monde), seulement il me fallait trouver de la technologie transistor qui arrive a me faire oublier les sensations des lampes, je cherchais un ampli capable de faire ce que fait mon fidèle Fender, le coté dynamique, percussif , diffuseur , chaleureux bref...... je suis comblé avec le Mach3.

C'est vraiment fou d'arriver a ce résultat , cette qualité et l'intelligence avec laquelle il a été conçu. chaque voix sont de grosse qualité, la "1965" est magnifique pour le clean. La "sweet" un poil salit avec la dist.bst et un réglage léger du limiteur est un régal. j'ai besoin de plus jouer avec la "plexi" , mais je la trouve aussi très réussie , et les autres sont aussi fantastiques mais je vais me focaliser sur une ou deux voix max pendant quelques temps.

L'EQ marche du tonnerre, les boutons crantés font réagir l'ensemble du son au moindre mouvement, c'est un plaisir de sculpter selon ses besoins le son de chaque voix.

La reverb ne vaut pas un tank a ressort fender, mais fait quand même vraiment bien le taf, en tout cas j'en suis ravi a condition d'être souple dans les réglages.

Le tremolo est vraiment cool lui aussi , mais pas très progressif dans sa vitesse sur le potard.... enfin il marche quand même très bien, même si je préfère quand même utiliser ma pédale de tremolo perso.

D'ailleurs après test toutes les pédales de mon pedalboard fonctionnent a merveille , overdrive, disto, fuzz, delay, vibe et tremolo , c'est parfait a mon gout !

Je reviendrai sur mon avis dans quelques temps j'aurai alors peut être pu utiliser les autres fonctions de la machine.
J'espère que cet ampli tiendra dans le temps, je pense que ce sera un de mes derniers achats d'ampli si c'est le cas ( peut etre d'autre machine de la même marque ... a voir :p ) . Il sonne vraiment très bien , il envoi du lourd , il est très leger, l'ampli que l'on peut utiliser pour bosser chez soi avec un excellent son, que l'on peut prendre partout en répète ou concerts , bref .... j'adore Quilter maintenant, et les transistors ça envoi grave, les lampes c'est de l'histoire ancienne dans mon cas !

Claridad y nitidez por todas partes. Toco jazz y con guitarras semi-hollow y archtop suena de lujo. Da igual el volumen que utilices: los sonidos limpios (los únicos que uso) son completamente transparentes. Todavía no he probado los amplis que van del 4 al 6 (más cañeros) pero seguro que están a la altura de los modelos de referencia.

El EQ es muy muy efectivo. El limitador funciona de lujo cuando subes el control de boos/dist. 200W en sólo 9 kilos es un plus.

La calidad de fabricación es excelente. Para aprovechar todas las cualidades del ampli es recomendable tener el pedal de control. Ocupa poco espacio en la pedalera y ganas versatilidad. Lástima que suponga un coste extra, pero merece la pena.

El servicio de Thomann, como siempre, ha sido excepcional!!
