Cutting-edge vocal processing

The TA-1VP, a groundbreaking vocal processor resulting from the collaboration between Antares Audio Technologies and Tascam, is the only hardware unit featuring real-time pitch correction technology by Antares. Beyond its pitch correction capabilities, the TA-1VP functions as a complete professional vocal strip. Equipped with a high-quality preamp, TEC-Award-winning microphone and tube emulations, a programmable compressor/gate section with de-esser, two-band parametric EQ, and a unique "double-tracking" function, this 1U 19" rack-mountable unit will seamlessly adapt to any audio setting. Whether in recording, live performances, or broadcasting, the TA-1VP ensures outstanding, professional-grade results.

Streamlined audio process

The Tascam TA-1VP offers a straightforward audio flow. It starts with a choice between 30 exclusive (and TEC-Award-winning) Antares microphone emulations and a "tube warmth" emulation circuit for precise control over saturation levels. The user may activate pitch correction, and personalise the scales (chromatic, major, or minor) and correction speed, to tighten a voice or use for effect. The channel strip includes a programmable compression/gate section, de-esser, parametric EQs, and a unique "double-track" function which splits the audio signal into two, sending the auto-tuned voice on one track and the untreated voice on different track, creating a broad stereo sound. With two analogue outputs, a digital coaxial output, a line input, and MIDI connectivity (including a footswitch), the TA-1VP will adapt to a broad range of vocal applications.

Quickly customisable sound

The TA-1VP, featuring MIDI connectivity, allows for remote control - including footswitch operation, via a dedicated input, which can offer some very interesting options, especially during live performances. Its extensive range of microphones, pristine channel strip, double-track function, and presets (there are instrumental ones too, for drum kits for example!) can be recalled in an instant, without the use of hands if so required! And the user-friendly interface ensures quick access to all the parameters, making every essential function just a button press away. The TA-1VP will always showcase a voice whatever the scenario, be it laying down auto-tune harmonisations on an R&B track, tightening the voice of a lead singer during a live concert, or flattering the voice of a popular podcaster!

About Tascam

Tascam started out in 1971 as Teac Corporation's distributor of professional audio equipment. The name is the acronym of Teac Audio System Company of America. Tascam was a great innovator on the market and pioneered leading technologies of the time, such as multitrack tape and cassette recorders, digital multitrack recorders (DTRS), digital mixing consoles, and so on. Today, Tascam supplies the entire sound industry with products for television and radio studios, recording studios, concert halls, conference rooms, academic institutions, commercial facilities, theatres, internet podcasters and broadcasters, music producers, and musicians.

Integrated channel strip

The TA-1VP’s channel strip is packed with convenient features. The microphone connection, on the front panel's right side, supplies +48V phantom power for condenser microphones and includes a -20dB pad button, while the left side houses the channel strip itself with its easily navigable two-band parametric equaliser displayed on the screen. The de-esser efficiently eliminates sibilance, is highly customisable, and can be deactivated. The compressor/gate/limiter allows precise control, including compression ratio, makeup gain, attack/release values, knee settings, expansion ratio, and threshold adjustments - and the integrated gate significantly reduces background noise, ensuring a great performance in any circumstances.

A
Tascam TA-1VP Great Piece of kit
Anonymous 22.08.2016
I purchased the TA-1VP mainly for its autotune function for my live performances.

I'm a little dissapointed by the sound when using Autotune but it may just need to be adjusted. There are lots of parameters that can be set but did not find the manual that helpful to explain the effect of each parameter.

With autotune turned off the sound is fantastic due to the mic modelling and input voice type selection.

Overall I'm very pleased this vocal processor and would deffinitley reccomend it to anyone peforming live with or without the autotune.

Great build, lots of features, one minor con
Ashesborn 01.09.2022
This is a very well made unit rich with features – from real-time pitch correction to in-depth mic modeling and compression possibilities. Works way better than software equivalents, BUT suffers from occasional digital clicks. They're not frequent or noticeable enough to be a deal breaker though.

L
Perfect pitch correction
LydF 26.02.2024
I wanted to run autotune on my live vocals and every playback tech was recommending an Apollo and separate macbook just for the vocals. That setup would've cost thousands so I was incredibly happy to find the Tascam TA-1VP which solves my problems! I much prefer using hardware than software as it's more reliable and the autotune sounds very natural on this. I've previously used a Zoom V3 and it would much more of a "cher" tone. The TA-1VP can also be controlled by midi via Ableton Max for Live but the presets are all manual and difficult to navigate. The instructions are very minimal and I had to do a lot of my own research.

Overall highly recommend for some light pitch correction in a live setting!
