Truly mobile podcasting
The extremely compact Zoom Podtrack P4 is the ideal way to record mobile podcasts in high audio quality. To this end, the P4 is equipped with four high-quality microphone preamps that, with up to 70dB gain, provide enough power for any microphone. An integrated mix-minus function automatically suppresses echoes and feedback. Using a TRRS cable, smartphones can be connected to the P4 to easily patch in interviewees who are unable to attend in person: Equally, mobile devices can be connected via Bluetooth.
The key features
The four microphone inputs each have an XLR connector, a gain control, and a mute switch, as well as switchable 48V phantom power. To match the number of mic inputs, the Podtrack P4 is equipped with four independent headphone outputs, each with its own volume control. On the left are two USB-C ports – one for power, the other for data transfer – and the card slot for SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards with up to 512GB of storage. The right-hand side houses the on/off switch, TRRS input, and BTA-2 input. The Podtrack P4 supports 44.1kHz/16bit recording and can be used as a USB audio interface.
Professional podcast producers
The Zoom Podtrack P4 mobile podcast recorder has everything podcasters need to produce professional recordings. Its compact dimensions and light weight make it a convenient companion for recording up to four speakers or guests: Four independent headphone outputs ensure that everyone who has a mic can also enjoy individually customised monitoring. The integration of mobile phones makes podcasting even more flexible. Finally, an illuminated display provides an overview of the most important parameters – battery, line levels, and time code.
About Zoom
Founded in 1983, the Japanese company Zoom manufactures a variety of audio equipment, including a range of portable "handy" recorders as well as multi-effects processors, effects pedals, drum machines, and samplers. Over the past thirty years, the company has built a reputation for producing innovative yet affordable products based on original microchip designs. Since the Zoom-9002 (an ultra-compact multi-effects processor that can be attached to a guitar strap) was introduced in 1990, Zoom has become one of the leaders in digital audio processing.
Soundpads and Bluetooth
Four sound pads (A, B, C, D) with their own individually adjustable playback volume make it easy to integrate music, commercials, jingles and even pre-recorded interviews. Furthermore, the Podtrack P4 comes with eleven presets that can be assigned to the pads as desired – of course, you can also use your own sounds and settings. In addition to the ability to connect mobile phones via the wired TRRS input, there is also the option of connecting a mobile device phone wirelessly to the P4, for which Zoom manufactures the BTA-2 Bluetooth adapter (sold separately).
