Stands out from other modelling pedal boards
HugoJ, 19.11.2018
I have owned a number of digital effect boards in the past (Vox's, the G-System, Firehawk HD, Helix). We could talk about connectivity and related matters: Boss' app can only be used on portrait mode on a tablet or phone for some reason, and it's not as easy or intuitive as the one for the Firehawk / Helix. The Desktop software for the GT1000 is fairly decent and a very nice extra. Not perfect either. We could argue back and forth about which one sounds more "organic", which one is more "plasticky". Certainly the Helix might have an edge in that department, although personally that advantage is not as big as to make it the key aspect to prefer the Helix.

So my contribution to the conversation comes in form of the flexibility of sound manipulation. This is something very important to me, and hopefully it's something a few other users might want to know about. This is in fact, the decisive factor on my decision of purchasing this unit, as someone who enjoys sound design, rather than the purity of classic tones. The GT1000 inherits the innovations of the Boss MS3 in terms of signal routing / signal chain. This is a huge deal, because the different in sound is tremendous just by switching the routing. The same simple arrangement of a delay + pitch shifter + reverb can produce a dramatically different sound when you send the signal to the shifter first, whilst you process in parallel towards the delay and reverb, or ANY combination thereby.

This is what makes the GT1000 unique.

I would love it if the footswitches were as big as the G_System.
I would love it if they didn't feel so close together (maybe it's just a legacy of used the G-System for too long).

However, If sound design/innovation is your focus, there's no parallel to the GT1000.

effective and practical, big sounds
zenico, 24.05.2018
This gt-1000 will now replace my gt-3, which means that the jump is huge.

The editing of the patch is rather simple, the display on the screen is well done, the interface on tablet (via Bluetooth) is even more practical (especially for the "assign", that is, assign a function to the buttons physical).
Those who have already used a previous generation gt will not be lost, the logic is the same.
The "manual mode" (temporarily changing the function of patch change buttons of the bank in court, to turn on / off some effects of the patch), present on previous versions, disappears. But we can assign the function that we want to all buttons, so among other patches buttons, and therefore obtain a similar behavior if desired. And that offers additional possibilities.

For those who do not know this kind of gear, the sounds are organized by bank of 5 patches.
there are 2 buttons to navigate the banks, then there are 5 buttons to select a patch. And finally 3 buttons to act on parameters of the patch (opening of an effect, change of simulation of amp, tuning, ...)
Editing a patch consists of managing a chain of elements (effects, amp simulation, reverb, ...). We can move the elements, put them in parallel (3 possible branches I think), turn them on / off. And of course, each element has its own parameters.

The effects are excellent. Amp simulation also.
After making some sounds, starting from scratch, and sometimes with an analog overdrive in the effects loop, I used it in an ox, 2 guitarists on amp, and me live on the console (with AIRD simulations on the XLR output), I think I can say that I had the best sound, pechu, hot, crunchy or clear or distortion.
So it's safe, I'll use without amp in some situations.

With this kind of material, you have to take the time to create sounds from scratch in my opinion, and use preprogrammed sounds as examples of the possibilities offered.

In short, I am delighted.
