Modulation at its finest

For nearly two decades, the Eventide ModFactor has ranked among the very best modulation effects out there – and not just for guitarits: Equipped with ten high-end modulation types, MIDI connectivity, and stereo inputs and outputs, this rugged yet compact pedal is flexible enough to slot right into any keyboard rig or studio setup. Alongside essentials like chorus, flanger, phaser, rotary, and a variety of vibratos, the ModFactor also features Eventide's signature Undulator effect, borrowed from the flagship H8000, which delivers a creative blend of delay, pitch shifting, and frequency-modulated tremolo. Beyond the device's outstanding sound quality – a given with Eventide – the ModFactor is also refreshingly intuitive to use, and thanks to its bright display, navigating settings on stage is never a shot in the dark.

Eventide ModFactor

Over two dozen premium mod effects

Each of the Eventide ModFactor's 10 core effects comes with a range of unique variations – for example, there are three distinct types of chorus, and four each for the flanger and phaser functions. The ModFactor uses two LFOs for shaping the sound, the first controlled by the top row of knobs, the second by the bottom. In practice, this means the modulation from LFO 1 can be processed further, making it easy for musicians to make some truly unique tones. Their custom creations can be stored in one of the 40 preset slots, with the Eventide Device Manager software suite for Mac and PC making this occasionally fiddly process less of a chore too. The ModFactor's professional credentials are only further underlined by its extensive connectivity: Alongside stereo in/out, there's a USB port, an expression pedal input, an assignable AUX switch, in/out level switches, and full MIDI in/out – ensuring flexible operation in any setup and with virtually any instrument.

A tool for the pros

The Eventide ModFactor has clearly been conceived as a tool for professionals who want their musicmaking to be a creative journey – and need a solid foundation of top-quality modulation effects as somewhere to start from. Its ten core effects – and their many variations – provide exactly that, making it possible to craft unique sounds that can be shaped in countless ways – whether on a guitarist's pedalboard with an expression pedal or perfectly synced to other gear via MIDI in the studio. While the ModFactor sounds impressive even when it's fed just mono signals, like any modulation effect it truly shines in stereo. Players running stereo rigs will appreciate the pedal's stereo ins and outs, which ensure lossless processing of the effect signal: There'll be no tone suck here!

About Eventide

The US manufacturer Eventide is one of the pioneers of digital audio technology. The company has existed since the early 1970s and began with developments in the broadcasting sector and digital delay effects. As early as 1974 they unveiled the H910, a pitch shifter revolutionary at the time. The H3000 (1986) was milestone in the field of digital effects and was very popular with professional musicians in recording studios and live performances. The following generations of this model were ever more powerful and culminated in the current flagship H9000. Since 2007, Eventide has also been developing compact pedals, primarily for guitarists and keyboard players. To this day, Eventide's algorithms are considered among the best on the market.
