power supply

It works well as power supply, with or without being plugged in since the batteries do their job well. The battery compartment cover has a usability issue though: one needs a screwdriver to open it. Also, the batteries are somewhat loose inside. It comes with rubber legs which are to be glued on place.

One major thing to note here is that this box is useless without preamplifier. I found this out the hard way. One shouldn't generally do that but a decent dynamic mic plugged in to line input is actually louder than a phantom powered small-diaphragm condenser coming out from this power supply and connected to the same input.

The item gives me the impression of being bare or rough: plain metal box with battery hole and unpolished wooden battery compartment inside. And yet, it does its job and it does it well.

Simple and effective.

Perfect for my situation : using a phantom powered mic AND a non phantom powered mic on a digital interface with two channels where phantom power has to be ON or OFF on BOTH channels. The phantom power supply is a perfect problem solver. I cannot say anything about the circuitry used inside, but i can tell that i did not notice any increase in noise levels, so the PP2B gets the job done nice and clean. ( i am using a very very quiet rhode mic, so when i say quiet, i mean quiet). I like the possibility to use batteries if needed. Construction is made of metallic plates, nothing to say, seems sturdy enough for me, but i usually dont jump or sit on my kit.

Wow - nice piece of technique

Well, I did not think that we could use such an item for phantom powering our head set microphones when playing some kind of "public rehearsals" with our acoustic band using only battery powered amps (mostly Roland BA 330 and the little Bass Cube). But it seems to work.

Just tried this little box with a low budget head set condenser mic (HS 500 by Omnitronic) connected through a mini xlr (male) to xlr (male) adapter with the Millenium PP2B Phantom Power Supply. Although I got some hints that such an adapter wouldn't work (because of the lack of electronics that would be needed for such condenser mics) ... what can I say? It works. Really - and that's fine.

I only tried the PP2B powered by current powerline so far. But I can't imagine any reason why it should NOT work when using those two 9v batteries.

As an alternative product you could consider the AKG B29L - only ONE 9V battery needed; but OK: only ONE output for two mic inputs. Nice product as well though.

Cheers

Great for the price

This is a very useful piece of kit for a variety of settings. I was sceptical due to cost - but am really surprised at the overall quality of the unit. It has taken a few knocks in handling to date- but is quite sturdy and doesn't seem to mind! I should clarify I have only had the unit for a number of months- but if it continues to perform as it has to date I would have no problem replacing in the future if lost/stolen/damaged.
